"Half Duration" and Rounding

Rules Questions

If a negative status effect requires a saving throw, with the effect lasting for half the normal duration (being in terms of rounds) on a successful save, does the half duration have an implicit minimum of 1 round, or no?

I can't think of an official answer, but even though we round all fractions down, I would still enforce a minimum of one.

I actually had the same issue come up yesterday with negative energy channeling. I was GMing a level 1-2 adventure in PFS, and a level 2 enemy cleric channeled for 1 point of damage. Do the people who saved for half take 1 or 0 damage?

I just had them all take a point, whether they made the save or not, just to keep things moving, rather than look it up. But it also didn't matter much at that point, since the battle was just about over, and nobody was going to die over it.

I'd go with either 0 damage or a slim possibility of 1 point of nonlethal damage:

Quote:
Minimum Damage: If penalties reduce the damage result to less than 1, a hit still deals 1 point of nonlethal damage.

General rule of rounding is always round down. There is a specific rule about damage saying it becomes nonlethal. However, duration doesn't have one that I know about, so RAW is that it would be zero rounds on a successful save.
