Scarab Sages

I'm looking for a good Pathfinder character generator that I can access or download to my desktop that's free, easy, and includes most (doesn't have to be all) of the Paizo-published material - something along the model of this or this, but better. This is just so I can screw around with character concepts at home. Anyone got something?

Scarab Sages

Bump?

Check out Pathfinder-sCoreForge-4.5.0.0 I believe that is the latest update.

Check out Ogre Sheets, I've found it to be extremely usefull.

Scarab Sages

Thanks - but these both confuse me a bit. Am I supposed to download them to my computer? And where's the proper place to find that first one?

Is there anything I can do if I don't have Excel? I use OpenOffice.org software.

Liberty's Edge

It isn't free, but there's always HeroLab. It's simply the best.

You can also check our PCgen, which IS free, but they only have the core book and the adv player's guide.

Open office runs it just fine, that's what I use too.

And yes you download them :)

I second hero lab, not free but worth every penny.

Pardon me, I seem to be clueless.

Which OpenOffice program do I use to run Ogre Sheets? I've been trying and failing so far. One time I wound up with a blank document page, another time I was told the file was corrupt.

This is no longer true. Ultimate Magic and Ultimate Combat are available in PCGen, as well as the first two bestiaries.

Are they available in a stable release? Or in a beta or alpha release? I'll send out another vote for Hero lab. It is quite simply the best character creation and maintenance software on the market. It has about a five minute learning requirement, and allows for extremely custom outputs. If you have the $29.99 at your disposal it will be well worth spending.

Brand spanking new stable release, 6.0, with new front page interface. Especially given PC Gen is free, it can't ever hurt to try it at least. Just download and install.

Note the $29.99 is for the core package only, and you have to make sure you activate Pathfinder -- if you activate another game system, you will have to pay $20 activate Pathfinder. The core package is core rules + Inner Sea World Guide + various NPC sources and some AP stuff.

If you want access to the additional books (APG, UM, UC), you have to pay an additional fee, from $5-15 depending on the source. For the core package, all the Bestiaries (assuming you buy all 3 in the bundle), APG, ARG, UM, UC, and UE, you will be paying @$110 for the whole thing. And if you want truly EVERYTHING, including the various companions and whatnot, it can be even significantly more than that. If you're good at data entry, you might design your own data packages and save yourself some money at the expense instead of time.

Many consider that worth the price, but I think a potential customer should be aware of the full cost if you truly want all or even some of the supplements.

Personally, I own Hero Lab (though mind I have Pathfinder in demo only, I bought it to use with Mutants and Masterminds for which it is very valuable) and I still prefer to use PCGen and sCoreForge for Pathfinder character generation. Many will disagree, but that's my 2 cents.
