Druid: some questions

Rules Questions

What is the general ruling on whether or not a character is allowed to take monster feats so long as they meet the prerequisites? Basically does the word “monster” by its self disqualify a druid from using them?

When wildshaping am I to assume that the listed changes to the druids AC, STR, DEX, ex. are the only size and stat modifications a player needs to worry about? Or do they need to take into account other changes a larger sized creature takes take to stats? After reading the text it appears that STR and DEX are quite clear “You gain a +2 STR size bonus...” Otherwise STR bonus might get out of control. So does the text also imply that the negative modifications of a larger size are already in effect when it lists the AC or is this all the responsibility of the GM to calculate in combat?

Huge animal: If the form you take is that of a Huge animal, you gain a +6 size bonus to your Strength, a -4 penalty to your Dexterity, and a +6 natural armor bonus.

It looks like the only things that change about your character are the things mentioned in the spell. Don't forget that the Dex penalty also lowers your AC.

Greetings, fellow travellers.

Monster Feats: Were originally designed for antagonists of the PCs, thus they're published in the Bestiary. Since your creature type doesn't change when wildshaped, you're still a human(oid) and not a monster (though this is not a game term per se). In addition, most PCs do not qualify for them.
I'd talk to your GM; the trade off to me looks something like this: You get the feat and can do something other PCs can't, but you can only use it while wildshaped, thus the benefits do not apply 24/7 and you "wasted" a feat.

Wildshaping: You gain all and only the changes to stats as listed, e.g. +2 to DEX when polymorphing into a small animal. You also gain the special movements and abilities as listed in the spell description, limited by what's written there. In addition you also have to recalculate changes to AC, to-hit and CMB/CMD due to your change in size, e. g. +1 to AC, +1 to to-hit, -1 to CMB when polymorphing into a small animal.

Ruyan.

you were helpful thank you!

quote prometheus's_curse; "So does the text also imply that the negative modifications of a larger size are already in effect"

No.

Tip: Best is to build your wildshaped druid sheet from scratch and
dont go substracting / adding numbers on your humanoid druid sheet.
i.e. flip over your A4 and tada; there's the stats for your wildshaped druid.

here's a case where a druid gets to pick a feat from the bestiary:

At 9th level and every 4 levels thereafter, an eagle shaman gains one of the following bonus feats: Flyby Attack, Improved Lightning Reflexes, Lightning Reflexes, Skill Focus (Perception), or Wind Stance.

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/druid/archetypes/paizo---druid -archetypes/eagle-shaman

So a druid seemingly qualifies and takes fly by attack from the bestiary.

Still grey area's here, example; would the druid be able to use fly by attack when not wildshaped, but able to fly per spell 3e: Fly.

Another example for qualifying for something you're not 24/7 is the skill fly. You just have to be able to fly now and then on a daily basis.

GM talk for sure, but i gues none would object to taking 1 or 2.
