Spring Attack Question

Rules Questions

So say a leopard animal companion has earned Spring Attack feat. It reads:

As a full-round action, you can move up to your speed and make a single melee attack without provoking any attacks of opportunity from the target of your attack. You can move both before and after the attack, but you must move at least 10 feet before the attack and the total distance that you move cannot be greater than your speed. You cannot use this ability to attack a foe that is adjacent to you at the start of your turn.

If that single melee attack is a bite that hits, does this mean I get my free action Trip Attempt or would that be considered another attack?

To me it just seems like an extension of the bite but I am not sure.

Thanks.

Do you mean Grab? If so, then yes; it's "[i]f a creature with this special attack hits with the indicated attack", and it's a free action.

Edit for formatting.

Both, I think.

Spring Attack grants you just the one attack, but if something grants you more, like Trip (Ex) or Cleaving Finish or something, that should still apply.

I agree. A free action (trip) should not interfere with the Spring Attack full round action.

Excellent. Thanks to all. Now to start my Feat chain......
