Trait that allows Perception to be a class skill?

Rules Questions

Hey all...is there a trait, or any other way a wizard can get perception as a class skill? Obviously multi-classing would do it, but that is not an option...

Is it for PFS? There are several faction traits that give Perception as a class skill. I don't believe there are any non-campaign traits which do so (otherwise every character would have one.)

There are several actually, but they're either faction for PFS or racials, but those can be from the Adopted socail trait... more info on the char to point you in the right direction?

Eyes and Ears of the City is a religious trait, I think.

He is a straight human wizard, Sargavan Colonial in the Serpent's Skull series.

There is a religion one for abadar. There is a thread on this. I can't find the thread but that was a nice google doc that breaks all the traits down.

The google doc is nice, but my comp doesn't open it for some reason, apparently i'm not the only one tho.

Eyes and Ears of the city would work, if he's LG LN TN or LE (one step from the alignment of the trait).

I'm not sure on the module traits, there are some that have specifics for each series.

I'd try to get the doc to open, or just see if the ones out of the factions from the PFS guide (free on this site) are useable or convertable to an appropriate region in his game.

There's one from Dragon Empires Primer: Valashmai Veteran. +1 to Perception and Survival, and one becomes a class skill.

Wow so basically that trait is as good as the Skill Focus feat, until level 10 then it is almost as good. My games in any system rarely make it that far!

If neither skill is a class skill, and you plan on putting ranks into it, then yes. And it stacks with Skill Focus, and with (in the case of Valashmai Veteran) Alertness and Self Sufficient.

If you already have the skill as a class skill, it's just a nifty bonus.

TGMaxMaxer:

In order to take a religion trait you do not need to be within one step of the Deity that has that particular religion trait. Thus, you can be Chaotic Good and still have Abadar as your god. You wont be a particularly upstanding follower but that is a roleplay issue and not a mechanical issue. Eventually if you violate the tenets of Abadar enough you might get excommunicated and then yes, you will lose the trait.

Underbridge Dweller (Magnimar)

You were raised in the Shadow district of Magnimar beneath the Irespan, a veiled place the light of the sun touches for only 3 hours per day.

Benefit:Your well-founded suspicions grant you a +2 trait bonus on Perception checks in dim light, and Perception is always a class skill for you.

I thought if you changed religions you get to keep the traits. I know it works that way for changing factions and the faction traits in PFS.

You cannot keep religion traits if you change religions. You are allowed to substitute it for another trait at some point subject to GM fiat.

Religion Traits: Religion traits indicate that your character has an established faith in a specific deity; you need not be a member of a class that can wield divine magic to pick a religion trait, but you do have to have a patron deity and have some amount of religion in your background to justify this trait. Unlike the other categories of traits, religion traits can go away if you abandon your religion, as detailed below under Restrictions on Trait Selection.

Even if your character becomes a hermit and abandons society, he’ll still retain his legacy of growing up an aristocrat if he took the relevant social trait. The one exception to this is religion traits—since these traits require continued faith in a specific deity, your character can indeed lose the benefits of these traits if he switches religions. In this case, consult your GM for your options. She may simply rule that your character loses that trait, or she might allow him to pick a new religion trait tied to his new deity. Another option is that if your character abandons a religion, he loses the associated religion trait until he gains an experience level, at which point he may replace a lost religion trait with a basic faith trait.

Is it just My Trait guide that wont open for you or every Google Doc?

Your trait guide doesn't play nice with IE at the very least. This is a known problem with some Google Docs. I have Chrome as a backup for this purpose (actually, I got it for Roll20 but it also works for this purpose).

As you were constructing your trait guide it got progressively harder to open it with IE. Eventually it reached the point where it just wouldn't open with IE (I get never ending script error messages).

How disappointing... Anyone know another format or place I could transfer it to? I use Firefox and have never noticed.

You might try removing anything fancy out of the document. Either that or post a warning that Google Docs does not play nice with Internet Explorer.
