Spellscar Mystery - Eldritch Bolt clarification

Rules Questions

Sczarni

I was looking to make a new character in a pathfinder campaign and I was led to the Spellscar Oracle. I thought, this is great! It reminds me a little of the warlock in 3.5 with the Eldritch bolt mystery. After reading it over I wasnt sure how to interpret the damage:

Eldritch Bolt (Su): You can damage foes with a bolt of raw magical energy. Make a ranged touch attack against any foe within 30 feet. On a hit, you deal 1d8 points of force damage, +1 point of damage per two oracle levels. At 10th level, the bolt’s range increases to 60 feet. You may use this revelation a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Charisma modifier.

So, is it the same as the warlock in 3.5 where the damage dice progresses as you level up? So in this case level 4 oracle = 2d8 +2, level 6 oracle + 3d8 + 3 damage? Or is it simply lvl 4 oracle = 1d8 +2 damage, lvl 6 oracle + 1d8 + 3 damage? I'm thinking if it is the former then that is pretty darn rocking!

It's basically 1d8 + (1/2 your level). This is not the warlock you're looking for :(

This is standard with a lot of similar abilities; see cleric domain powers and sorcerer bloodline powers especially.

Basically, the comma after damage splits it; you deal:
(1d8 points of force damage)
+(1 point of damage per 2 oracle levels)
These are intended to scale a little, but not be a major ability after the first couple of levels.
