Question about spirit fingers

Rules Questions

The kapenia dancer has a special magus arcana: spirit fingers

Whenever the magus hits with a bladed scarf, he may spend 1 arcane pool as a swift action and attempt a steal maneuver.

1. Does this maneuver provoke? I'm guessing no, because it's like the wolf trip or crab grab, you hit, then you get the free maneuver.

2. Is the magus performing the steal with the bladed scarf? In other words, to modify this specific maneuver use by Dex instead of Str, would I have to use Agile Maneuvers, or can I skate with Weapon Finesse?

Liberty's Edge

typically, If you do not have the Improved Steal feat or a similar ability, attempting to steal an object provokes an attack of opportunity from the target of your maneuver.

Dark Archive

What book is that from and what is the relevant text involved?

It's from the players guide to Varisia. And as a swift action it would not provoke as swift actions specifically do not provoke.

I can't seem to correlate this, can you point me to where it says a swift action does not in fact provoke AoO's? Not being snobby I just can't seem to find it.

Edit: A swift spell casting won't provoke, but I don't see anything on the rules about a steal action.

Am I the only one who read the title to this and immediately thought of this -->

Spirit Fingers!

Usually swift actions do not provoke, although this may be a holdover in my mind from 3.5 anyways. the best way to avoid the AoO is just to use the reach of the scarf to do so. That solves the problem as well.

Maybe not that exact picture, but I was wondering if the supplement also included a Jazz Hands arcana.

Can someone who has the book on hand link the actual verbage? I can't seem to find it in the SRD.

Spirit Fingers (Su): Whenever the kapenia dancer scores a hit with a melee weapon, he can spend 1 point from his arcane pool as a swift action to immediately attempt a steal combat maneuver (Advanced Player's Guide 322).

So yeah

1. Does this provoke AoO?
2. Do you do the steal with the weapon, and if so, can you add Dex to the maneuver instead of Str with just Weapon Finesse (like how disarm or trip is capable of working), or do you need Agile Maneuvers if you have a Dex build? Or, swinging for the fences, is this like the magus equivalent of fingers of the apprentice, and you add Int to the maneuver check?

Really I am curious, because it does look like Spell Dancer and Kapenia Dancer can be combined, which would be rad, but instead of boosting your damage output with traditional magus powers, you could steal your opponents' healing potions instead. And you could take maneuver mastery (steal) as an arcana, and you can take Improved Steal from Combat Expertise, which boosts your AC to silly levels (Dex+Int+Combat Expertise+dance of avoidance+bracers of armor+etcetc)

Nope. Now all I can imagine is the party's Magus suddenly busting out the spirit fingers in the middle of the fight. Take that bad guys!

I would say since you're attempting the maneuver with your scarf, you'd get your Dex bonus from Weapon Finesse and any enhancement bonus' on the weapon just like any other maneuver performed with a weapon. as for the rest...

I had assumed it did not provoke an attack of opportunity since it was a swift action, but I can't back that up with anything I've been able to find, other than the precedent that spells cast as a swift action don't provoke.
