What does Proficiency Unarmed Strike do?

Rules Questions

Grand Lodge

As a cleric of Irori the character is granted proficency unarmed strike from the deitys favored weapon.
Does this mean that the cleric is considered armed if not holding a weapon?
Does this mean the cleric can chose to deal leathal damage without having the unarmed strike feat?
Cerification anyone?

Yes to both.

Also, it means that you can make unarmed strikes without suffering an attack of opportunity and if you would like can deal your damage as non-lethal.

please see the feat: Improved Unarmed Strike.

A number of Devs have chimed in on this, and basically, you get the Improved Unarmed Strike feat.

I play an Inquisitor of Irori right now.

Proficiency means you don't take the -4 non-proficiency penalty when attacking with it.

You're confusing proficiency with the Improved Unarmed Strike feat, which clerics of Irori do not get by printed RAW, but do get if you ask SKR or play in PFS.
