Oread Monk advice

Advice

So im making a monk with a 35 point buy for a campaign lvl 8 (Kingmaker book 3)

Im thinking of making him more of the Treantmonk style where its high str, high damage, brute force build power attack dragon style dragon ferocity

Any heres what it looks like so far

Str: 20
Dex: 14
Con: 14
Int: 13
Wis: 20
Chr: 5

Feats

Power Attack, Dodge, Imp Grapple, Improved Bullrush, Dragon Style, Dragon Ferocity. For my last one im debating either Imp Overrun or Elemental Fist.

33k Gold to work with

Silver Crusade

Straight monk, or an archetype? Have you looked at Monk of the Sacred Mountain?

thought about it but giving up evasion can hurt alot it would fit the character very well

If you want to go high damage, the new Brother of the Seal prestige class will work well with this; at level 7 of that class, you deal damage as if you were one size larger as well as getting Awesome Blow as a free feat. I feel that is well within the workings of an Oread monk.

As a feat, I'd take Elemental Fist over Imp Overrun. It'll help your charge damage, and using the acid property would be quite fluffy.

Other than that, you're going to have some feat slowdown because of the +0 BAB at first level. This is best countered by either doing a first level dip in either Barbarian (if you go Martial Artist monk) or Unarmed Fighter. That'll allow you to get your first level Power Attack, leaving your feat tree to look like this:

Barbarian 1/Monk 7:

1g: Power Attack
M1b: Dodge
M2b: Imp Grapple
3g: Dragon Style
5g: Dragon Ferocity
M6b: Imp Bullrush
7g: Elemental Fist

NOTE: If you can convince your DM that an Urban Barbarian with his controlled rage can be lawful and still do it, that is another cool way to Barbarian Monk!

If you go Unarmed Fighter, it'll look like this:

Unarmed Fighter/Monk:

1g: Power Attack
UF1b:Dragon Style
M1b: Dodge
M2b: Imp Grapple
3g: Weapon Focus (unarmed)
5g: Dragon Ferocity
M6b: Imp Bullrush
7g: Elemental Fist

Now, personally, if you're going to optomize for pure raw damage outside of flavor, the oni-spawn tiefling variant would work nicer. Same attribute arrangement, but you'll get 30' movement speed and Alter Self as a 1/day ability which means an extra +2 Strength when you want it!

Outside of that, for equipment, gotta go with Monk's Robes for the extra base damage. And you'll want a Belt of Giant Strength +2 at the very least as well.

dont you need to use a feat for the alternate tiefling racials?

ok dm wont charge me a feat for onispawn

While slightly less synergistic with Dragon Style, I think the Hungry Ghost archetype is an amusing one. Though Punishing Kick is generally weaker than Stunning Fist, it has the advantage of working against most mindless creatures and makes for a good brute-force opening move coupled with the Vicious Stomp feat.

No, you do not need to use a feat for the alternate tiefling racials. Those are in better detail in the Blood of Fiends book.

From that and the ARG, you can swap out some other racial traits for some interesting stuff. I like the Scaled Skin (reduce your resistances for +1 natural armor) and Prehensile Tail (grab items as a swift action).

where is the Brother of the seal from?

Ok since my monk is specializing in unarmed combat and str based manuavers any suggestions on how to pad my cmb?

Moved thread.

Have you ever considered being a druid/monk? Being a huge creature really does help in the CMB area as does the strength boost. Also, your monk unarmed strike is two sizes larger as well (with minimal prep, this character can do 3d8 points of damage normally, and 6d8 with one spell cast)
