Does the verbal component of ventriloquism issue from "someplace else"?
I don't know why it would, since you need the verbal to cast the spell, and the spell doesn't have an effect until after it's cast.
Once the spell is successfully cast, then any future verbal components could seem to issue from someplace else.
Remember, anyone listening will get a save to disbelieve automatically. (Which is odd, since you don't automatically get a save when you look at an illusion.)

Wait, does the verbal component of ventriloquism defeat the purpose of the spell?
I think it does when the RAW hammer is applied to it. Even when you're not trying to do it invisibly.
Maybe, according to the rules as they are written, ventriloquism is meant for comedians who cast it off stage then use it during their act. :)

It defeats the purpose if you're using it spur of the moment. If you use it beforehand, so as not to give away current position, then it works.
I agree so long as you're trying to use it while invisible. However, without being invisible the more common use, I would assume, would be to create a decoy voice from around a corner or behind a door, but your decoy would be stymied because you are heard when you cast the spell.

Casting the spell doesn't force the save, and it's casting that might break invisibility.
Attacks: Some spell descriptions refer to attacking. All offensive combat actions, even those that don't damage opponents, are considered attacks. Attempts to channel energy count as attacks if it would harm any creatures in the area. All spells that opponents resist with saving throws, that deal damage, or that otherwise harm or hamper subjects are attacks. Spells that summon monsters or other allies are not attacks because the spells themselves don't harm anyone.
I can see this spell going both ways as far as breaking invis goes, but the casting of a spell does not matter. Only "Attacking" with the spell.
Like Call lightning or Flaming Sphere both are cast then used to "attack", and as such break invis.| VRMH |
Well, Ventriloquism isn't "resisted", is it? After all, when you make your save it still functions: "anyone who hears the sound and rolls a successful save recognizes it as illusory (but still hears it)."
It's rather unique that way - the only thing making the save does, is let you know that what you're hearing is an illusion. The spell continues to function just fine. No-one gets harmed, hampered or damaged, and nothing gets resisted. So the Invisibility should stay up.

Saving Throw
Usually a harmful spell allows a target to make a saving throw to avoid some or all of the effect. The saving throw entry in a spell description defines which type of saving throw the spell allows and describes how saving throws against the spell work.Disbelief: A successful save lets the subject ignore the spell's effect.
Even if a creature resists a spell the spell can still funtion and they can still suffer from it. Fireball, Create Pit, GLitterdust ect.
Ventriliquisum is resisted you either do or do not suffer the effect of the spell. You make a save you know it's not real. You fail then you don't. Ventriliquisum is not "Harmless", like some other spells, then that means it's harmful in some manner, and should break invis based on that.
