Qualifying for the Dimensional Agility Feat Chain.

Advice

I rather like the dimensional agility feat chain and love Dimensional Dervish and Dimesional Savant so i thought i'd try and figure out what classes can get the feats and when. For the sake of simplicity i am being very strick on the qualifications so you must be able to cast dimension door as a spell or spell like ability or have the Abundant step class feature abilities that act as dimesion door such as the shadow dancers shadow jump may count but i'm working on the assumption they don't.

The numbers show the feats in order and the level needed to qualify so Dimensional Agility/Dimensional Assault/Dimensional Dervish/Dimensional savant or manuvers

Class
Alchemist Does not Qualify*
Anti-Paladin Does not Qualify* (If paladin archetypes are allowed as paladin)
Barbarian Does not Qualify*
Bard Level 11/13/15/17
Cavilier Does not Qualify*
Cleric 7/9/11/13 With travel domain
Druid 7/9/11/13 With wolf shaman taking the travel domain
Fighter Does not Qualify*
Gunslinger Does not Qualify*
Inquisitor Does not Qualify*
Ninja Does not Qualify*
Magus 11/13/15/17
Monk 13/15/17/19 needs to keep abundant step
Oracle Lore Keeper Level 11/13/15/17, Ancient Lorekeeper Level 11/13/15/17
Paladin Level 15/17/19 with sacred servant and travel domain
Ranger Does not Qualify*
Rogue Does not Qualify*
Samurai Does not Qualify*
Sorcerer Level 9/11/13/19
Summoner Level 7/9/11/13
Witch Level 7/9/13/19
Wizard Level 7/9/13/19/

Fetchling Level 11/13/15/19 Must have the shadow walker feat.

* Special: any class can qualify with 3 levels of the Horizon Walker Prestige Class and Astral Mastery
** The Samsaran trick is playing a Samsaran and using their racial ability to get dimesion door as a 3rd level spell from the summoner class

So with no trickery the first classes that qualify are the Summoner and the Travel Domained Cleric and Druid

The sorcerer, witch and wizard can gain the higher level feats faster if they take a better bab progression class such as Eldrich Knight so assuming minimum level for dimension door + 1 fighter and Eldrich Knight they change as follows

Sorcerer 8 /Fighter 1/ EK = 9/11/13/15
Witch 5 /Fighter 1/ EK = 7/9/11/13
Wizard 5 /Fighter 1/ EK = 7/9/11/13

I may have missed a few tricks here (or messed it up entirely) and ask you the loving paizo message board lurkers to point out my faults and mistakes :P (seriously any suggestions ect. are welcome as are cools stories about how dimesion door tricks worked for your characters or in your games :D)

I hope to post some builds using the feats here later and welcome other peoples too.

Edit: deleting the Samsaran trick as it doesn't work :D
Edit 2: Adding fetchling because i can still edit :D

On the Samsaran thing you can't use it to grab a spell already on your list at a lower level.

Every single class qualifies with level 6 plus horizon walker 3.

Does having it as a spell-like ability meet the prerequisites?

Yes, you officially "cast" something with a spell-like. Well, maybe not officially officially, but it's pretty solid in my book. Worked in 3.5 and haven't seen a change in pathfinder to make me think otherwise.

Grand Lodge

Than any Fetchling can do it.

Where do they get dimension door? I see disguise self, shadow walk, plane shift, displacement, and memory lapse in the write up.

edit: aha, shadow walker feat.

Actually bbt no it doesn't I will need some time but either jason or skr has said that having it as a spell like ability doesn't cut it.

I'd be interested in seeing that!

This it?

Does a creature with a spell-like ability count as having that spell on its spell list for the purpose of activating spell completion or spell trigger items?

No. A spell-like ability is not a spell, having a spell-like ability is not part of a class's spell list, and therefore doesn't give the creature the ability to activate spell completion or spell trigger items.

Dimensional agility doesn't say cast dimension door as a spell, just cast.

A spell-like ability has a casting time of 1 standard action unless noted otherwise in the ability or spell description. In all other ways, a spell-like ability functions just like a spell.

Hmm didn't know about the Samsaran thing but i'm kinda glad it does exist :D

I'm with Glutton on the Spell like front as it specificly says cast and spell likes are cast like spells

Grand Lodge

Ah, well, that's why I asked.

Can Samsarans add Domain spells to their spell lists?

I belive that was a flat no on domain spells they are not on the class list they are an addition to them.

My search fu however is too weak to find the post on it.

Don't believe so bbt as they aren't on the cleric list per say.

as to using SLA that wasn't what i was looking for and at the moment can't seem to find it. I do know the devs did reduce it from being more open ended to the current wording according to the author.

was this what you where looking for Talonhawke? You where posting in this thread and might have recalled it.

Probably. All being said if it isn't PFS just run it by you GM most (myself included) probably won't have a major issue do to the number of feats involved and the levels required to take it.

Grand Lodge

Red Mantis Assassin can qualify.

So the most uses of this ability I can come up with is Ki mystic fetchling horizon walker with a ton of vows?

If your GM is really nice and lets you use it with a SU that functions like DD and lets you use 3PP the tome of secrets warlock can eventually do it all day. Bonus points if you talk the GM into a gestalt game so you can also have fighter levels for BAB and feats.

Assuming the spell like abilities count i think fetchling rogue or ninja wins the feat though :D

Side question i assume as the feat says casts dimension door you could not dual wield while doing this unless you stilled the spell first?

correct or of course if using a SLA your good to go since they have no somatics.

I didn't check does DD have a somatic?

Ah verbal only so 2wf dimensional savants work.

Silent spell however would make this fun.

The BAB requirement for dimensional chain is 0/+6/+9/+9

So to edit your list a little...

Bard Level 11/13/15/17 (no change)
Cleric 7/9/11/13 With travel domain becomes 7/9/12/13
Druid 7/9/11/13 With wolf shaman taking the travel domain becomes 7/9/12/13
Magus 11/13/15/17 no change
Monk 13/15/17/19 needs to keep abundant step no change
Oracle Lore Keeper Level 11/13/15/17, Ancient Lorekeeper Level 11/13/15/17 no change
Paladin Level 15/17/19 with sacred servant and travel domain no changes
Sorcerer Level 9/11/13/19 becomes 9/12/18/18
Summoner Level 7/9/11/13 becomes 7/9/12/13
Witch Level 7/9/13/19 becomes 9/12/18/18
Wizard Level 7/9/13/19/ become 9/12/18/18

I did not take into account where feats are gained so in many cases they will have to wait until next odd numbered level to actually get the feat, also does not take into account multiclassing

You missed out dimension assault which has no bab req so 0/0/+6/+9 or +9 (i didn't bother with dimesional manuvers but i should have added it. Hence my original numbers (and they were set with feat levels included).

You're right, my bad, just add the 1st number to the number again. Good catch
