Flurry is a full attack action?

Rules Questions

Taking a look at flurry, I saw that it said that a monk may make a flurry of blows as full attack action. My question is if the flurry counts as full attack, or it just replaces it.

Certain feats can only work off of a full attack, like clustered shots, so I was just wondering what the rules state a flurry constitutes as.

Thanks.

It is a full-attack. Keep in mind, however, that it has certain restrictions, such as what weapons can be used and that no armor can be worn. This will prevent it from interacting with certain other full-attack options (such as the aforementioned Cluster Shot).

Jiggy, this example came from the Archer class thread, the option specifically being discussed is a Zen Archer's ability to flurry with a bow. (I understand that the current state of FoB is fluid, so this is given the assumption that flurry with a bow meant extra attacks with the bow, not some weird unarmed attack.) My stance was that since Clustered Shots is a modification that triggers when you take a full attack, Clustered Shots will work with a Zen Archer's flurry.

Ah, okay, he didn't say anything about any archetypes.

In the case of a Zen Archer, yes, it would work.

Of course, I admire your ability to cut through the crap most people post on this board and not make assumptions about information you don't have, which is why I chimed in to provide that info. I highly respect your interpretations of the rules, because they're based on probably the best grasp of the English language I've seen on the forums.

Seldom have more true things been said. ;-)

Oh, and I agree with you about Jiggy ... he gives really great advice. :)

Jiggy is spot-on with his answer.

For the "moar detail" oriented folks out there, Flurry of Blows grants the monk a "special" version of the Two Weapon Fighting chain of feats, whereby the "off-hand" weapon still gets full Str bonus to damage, and he uses his monk level as his BAB when taking the Full Attack action (with certain conditions about the weapon used and the monk's armour worn)..

And that's pretty much all it does.

Haven't trawled through the Archetypes to see how Zen Archer interacts, but I'd expect it to do the same thing.

Besides, if you consider FoB to not be a full-attack then Monks are immune to haste again, and that's sorrow nobody needs.
