Hey all, just a few quick questions:
1. Why is the ship in negatives?
So far we had to take out plunder on the 5th, but other than that, what's up? Is everything okay?
As it is, the ship has currently twice the loot as anyone on board (or it should). If we deduct points of plunder and supplies, it should still exceed us by quite a bit, unless I'm missing something.
2. Since the ship has 2x the amount of value given to it, maybe we should consider splitting that value with the island itself?
If we're going to provide supplies for the island we may want to either put up a spot for it on the sheet, or possibly something else like that.

The ship is in the negatives because we allocated the bottle of water and the bag of holding as party funds. As for the island itself, Immortal said it wasn't going to be a kingmaker style upgrade so outside of the point of plunder why would we be paying for stuff there?
We've already decided to lt them scrap the Valatroika for supplies and we get what is left over. That right there could be close to 5000gp for the island.

I am less concerned with the island. You all can kind of narrate that as you see fit...within reason...so no "oh all of a sudden it's a metropolis with an orbital ion cannon" You all can build the towers and I will take that into account should there be another attack. As for the other ship, I was planning on having that be mundane crafting supplies for you to outfit the ship or create things.

Okay, this is in regard to Rain's dear little Neko. Is the golden cat going to allow Rain and Variel to resume their relationship/intimacy now that Variel has written to Rain's grandfather and declared his feelings before others? Or will Neko continue in her traditional, chaperone mindset? Thanks. :)
Curiously yours,
Rain.

I really wanted that ion cannon..*Sigh*

Regarding the island - I don't honestly know, it was only a suggestion.
But when we have stuff we don't want to use, but we don't want to sell (like extra scrolls, or maybe a more permanent lab for working on breaking down magical gear, and so on) - it could be nice to have those things there.
It might also be nice to have some things like a siege guns on the towers; and possibly some other things to help the people.
Kingmaker, by the way, uses a rather rudimentary and somewhat mild rule system for the construction and development of a city into a nation.
I wasn't talking about that, though.
I was just talking about putting things aside there in case we needed them. If our ship sinks, we're in trouble. Having a backup resource with extra supplies or guarded treasure didn't seem like a bad idea to me.
But it's not for everyone.

Did i miss anything between leaving blood cove after the jungle and getting to the rock? It was jsut leaving the rock, the Ninja attacked, and then we got to Tidewater.

Hey everyone I will be unavailable to night as I have to bring my youngest in to the ER. My oldest scratched my youngest's eye by accident to the point where you can visually see the scratch. Sorry all and talk to you tomorrow hopefully at this rate.
Horatio Flynn
I'm terribly sorry to hear that Variel.
If there's anything we can do, please let us know.
For what it's worth, I will keep your family in my prayers.
I hope you and your family will be safe and sound as soon as possible.
DM Immortal
That sucks Variel. I hope it turns out to not be too serious. Take your time, we will be here whenever you get back. Make sure to pretend to be a pirate for them when they get the eye patch ;-)
Seijiro
Oooh, sounds bad. hopefully all will be well and heal quickly. Take care of you and yours.
Seijiro
Variel - hope all went well at the er and that your youngest is on the mend. Did he get an eyepatch? If so, you have to teach him how to talk like a pirate, you know. Aaarrrr... Hope he heals quickly.
Seijiro
I am going in for surgery this morning and have no idea when I'llbe ablr to post again. Hopefully within a couple of days. DM - please bot me until I get back. Thanks.

Good luck Jiro and hope everything goes well for you. Take your time coming back. We will be here waiting for you whenever you are able to return.

Try and get some rest when you can Variel. Glad your girls are doing good/better now. May it continue so. :)
Okay, I have my niece-to-be's bridal shower to attend today (it's Saturday here). So I will be gone for the rest of the day. If I need to respond or reply with Rain, I shall do so tonight, my time. Sorry for the hold up, but this weekend is going to be very busy for me. (What's new.)
Jiro, you are in my thoughts. Hope you will be okay.
Seijiro

Okay, the rest of my Sunday will be spent with family -- have some coming up to hang with me for the day. I will attempt to reply to postings later tonight my time. Thanks.

Horatio Flynn wrote:"We bring more men on board our ship we may sail faster, aye - but at the same time, if a mutiny breaks out when we can't pay them in time, that's four more un-trusty lads to deal with."
"That may be worth thinking on, too."
Rain turned her head upon Flynn's additional commentary and addressed him,
"Then as you suggested earlier Flynn, we leave the four from the Valatroika on the Isle to work off their debt and we attempt to sway four locals to join us on the sea. I would prefer able seamen, yet we cannot afford to be particular."
As a clarification point (and for the sake of fairness), Flynn was the one who suggested that the Valatroika crew remain/settle on Windward Isle and change their lives (repay their debt so to speak), with Rain agreeing that was probably the best solution to retain group harmony aboard the Lady. Rain was in no way attempting to take credit for Flynn's suggestion/idea. Thanks.

Looking at the loot list i Saw something that may make sense to add for accounting purposes
a Horde Column that states what the contents o our horde is, Horde being the total of non-plunder, unclaimed goods and cash we have.
Based on the chart we have a total balance of 14,615 in all accounts of players and the ship. Var, that includes the latest haul correct?
We have 9457.5 in Gear from the Valatroika, so we should have 5157.5 in raw cash, right?
That's the sum of our available balances (unspent cash) minus the value of items (that are not cash)
I think with this tracked in a Horde, we can use Horde cash to convert gold into supplies, so that when people want magic items or mundane gear we can make it, and dont' have to pull from the ship-share to buy stuff.
the horde tracks the real items in our hold and allows us to not spend Ship Fund on things that aren't being used. I also know how much actual cash we have so I can spend it on components.

Not computing the actual numbers your theory is correct. Once we sell the loot off at Little Oppara then it is all liquidated and either cash or materials. If we all had a joint pot and agreed that the cash flow could be borrowed from and repaid in the form of all crafting materials then yes I agree with you. However, if people do not want to be part of the horde pot that is where we run into trouble. For instance, Variel does not always want wondrous item materials as he may want to start purchasing mithral or adamantine to make armor. If Variel would show a balance of 4500 that is already spoken for as it is going to such armor and not for Dhaavan to craft items with. It is something that everyone would have to agree to but it could work.

Just a quick note to let you know i am home from the hospital and recuperating nicely... thanks again for your good wishes. I still have a long ways to go to be back to normal, but I'm getting there.

Good to hear and take it easy Jiro. Don't push anything too hard.
Dhaavan
We definately want to keep a portion of the horde as Raw Cash, adn we can always trade Crafting materials for other materials as well as back to gold. But it'd be nice to have a pot so we don't run into the issue of needing to go to port for crafting components or having the ship with a negative balance when we need to work on her cause we used her funds to buy other stuff.
Rain Taneththir
I find home a better place for recovery as it is familiar. Good luck with the recuperation, Jiro. Sending more positive thoughts your way.

If Immortal allows it as an even trade then that works for magical reagents and such. It depends on what the availability is of rare materials like mithral and adamantine that could throw a monkey wrench in the plans.

Dhaavan & Flynn: Are we retconning the conversation we were having in the evening of Day 2 re Amen-set on the social rp board?
Happily, if you'd like to.
I've been waiting for you guys since I made the last post, but Amen-set didn't return to the ship until after dark on Day 2.
Do you want her to be present as well?
Rain Taneththir
No, as you already played out that she came to speak with Rain after dawn on Day 3.
Well, I was waiting for Dhaavan as he sent Jack to find Flynn and the bird has yet to relay Flynn's reply.

Ah. Well if you want to fast-forward to the next time we can all meet, I'll happily do that, too :)
So if that's like Day 3 mid-afternoon or evening, I'm down with that, too.
Horatio Flynn
Okay, then we can all meet on the evening of Day 2 before you meet with Amen-set.
Where would would you like us to meet and when?
Amen-set will not be there, though.
Horatio Flynn
Jack, just tell Dhaavan he can pull up a chair and listen and toss his two cents in whenever he'd like.
FYI - all sleep and no play makes Jack a dull bird...
(bad jokes are great ;)
