Slips and falls down th stairs can be nasty. Glad to here that everything is as good as it could be.

Are there any NPC crewmates that can help us with Know Nature checks or Survival checks, Immortal? The only PCs with Know. Nature are Flynn, Variel and Rain (and she can't roll at the moment as she needs to steer and concentrate).
Edit!: It seems Jamba has a +12 to Know. Nature and we're still keeping him in game even though his player is no longer with us.

I believe the water elemental could have been useful, but since Dhaavan hadn't posted an action, it wasn't taken into consideration as it wasn't commanded to aid this cause (Dhaavan and Rain can speak Aquan. Not sure who else can on the ship.). I'm unsure of what bonus it received back at the sandbars, but I'll check with Immortal on that and get back to you if there is a change. Thanks, Flynn.

Co-GM: Will you be botting the GM if he does not act today?
Unfortunately, I do not know the details of the next part (Immortal and I haven't had a chance to discuss the regatta in any detail) and I can't move us forward. I will send him a message and see what I can do. It's a busy weekend for me, too, but I'll do what I can.

Thanks for the Heads-Up, Co-GM!
Here's hoping we discover something, soon :)

I have not heard back from Immortal, as yet, Flynn. Although he may make a post today.
I understand, Co-GM, no worries.
Horatio Flynn
We'll be updating the game tomorrow. Sorry for the wait and thanks for your patience.
No worries, Co-GM - I'm eager to see what happens next!
Rain Taneththir
I have bronchitis verging on pneumonia at present. I can barely think straight, so can someone please bot Rain where/if necessary over the next couple of days? I'll try to post after a little bed rest. Sorry and thank you.
As to Immortal, it's his birthday, today, so I'm not sure if he'll get a chance to post or not.
Sorry for the hold up.
Seijiro
Too sick and depressed and terrified to game right now... expect I'll be gone a day or two while I process recent events.. I WILL be back.

sounds like someone(s) with a bad case of political hangover...
everyone get feeling better
DM Immortal
Pretty much. My wife is latina (2nd generation full mexican) so my 3 kids are half and look it. Just not feeling overjoyed at the prospect of the next four years. I'm actually not that worried about the President-elect himself, but the vitriol that is inspired by the rhetoric. (See David Duke, White Nationalist Army, anything seen here) I'm not saying all or even most or even a large minority are like this but I don't think 5% is all that high of a number to use and that's 3 million people.
I hope I'm being alarmist and knee jerk but just the way I feel right now. Just hit home when looking at my wife and kids yesterday.
Anyway, sorry for the political rant. I'm done now and it won't come up again.
That said, I am going to an out of state wedding tomorrow so I won't be back on until Sunday. I asked Rain if she would dip her toe in the water with an encounter for you all to jump into. Should be fun! ;-)

Enjoy your trip and wedding, GM.
Meantime, I'm curious to see what Rain will have in store for us via the encounter - especially if we're able to take another ship :D

Understnd you thoughts Immortal. Not that worried about Trump himself but what may happen with others.

This nay have to wait as I am still quite unwell. I'm hoping to be back to posting by my Sunday (your Saturday). This has hit me hard as I also have an ear infection and migraine on top of the bronchitis. Sorry for the hold up, but thank you for your patience. The doc has prescribed bed rest (as much as I can anyway).
Seijiro
Hope you feel better soon Rain, no rush here though... I'm keeping up barely, but still too upset to enjoy gaming anyway...
DM Immortal
Yeah seriously feel better Rain. I have to go to a wedding tomorrow in New York so I won't be back on till Sunday so how about we take a break till then.
Just FYI, when we finish the race this book is done. YAY!!!

GM - I am leaving for a 12 hour shift and I should be back on the boards by roughly 8 PM tonight (I know that's a little more than 14 hours, but I am also factoring commuting).
I know some people said they were pretty sick or had other things going on right now. I hope everyone is feeling better soon, and that things at work or at home for everyone under some stress relax and get better soon.
Meanwhile, once I get home and have had a chance to eat some dinner, I'll happily bot anyone who is unable to have made a post, no worries.
See you then!
Adular
Folks, I want to apologize. I know I've been the weak link more than once in the posting here, often to the understandable vexation of fellow players.
RL has been kicking the asses of my family and loved ones, constant hurry up and wait sword of Damocles stuff even when it seems quiet...I wish I could tell you more, but a lot of it just isn't mine to tell. Suffice to say, more #### has gone wrong over the last year than I care to contemplate, and a lot of it isn't resolving anytime soon. That explains my many week plus long vanishing acts in this and other games, but it in no way excuses it.
But apologies get cheap after a while. And if I can't keep enough balls in the air, I need to admit I'm just not that good an actor and let a few go. So I'm quitting this campaign.
Of course, It's the GM's choice on what's done with Adular.
Frankly, my vote would be death. It makes sense that he would enjoy his afterlife and not return. And that makes him look less like an ass for leaving his lady love, his crewmates, and everyone else in a lurch. It als allows that 'strange energy' for the mythic stuff to 'flow' to the next PC that replaces him if such helps.
He could be an NPC....lord knows others have played him better than I.
His goods and items would likely be left to be distributed to the crew
However, Rain would find that Adular had a wooden carving of Neko, expertly done, with a note of apology for his having been an ass about Drenchport. He'd been meaning to give it to her for awhile now, but his player's #$## schedule interfered.
Immortal, especial apologies to you, you've been more than patient.
It's been a pleasure to play with all of you, and maybe I will in some of the games I will still be on, but I simply must trim things down, and the one where I'm constantly failing folks as a fellow player seems the best one for starting that.
Seijiro
we'll miss you, Adular... sorry to see you go...
DM Immortal
It's been an absolute pleasure Adular and you are welcome back anytime if life gets less shitty. I feel you btw, 2016 has been an especially awful year for me as well. Good luck my friend and here's to hoping things settle down for you.
Variel Nightstorm
|
Good luck Adular. We will miss you. Hope 2017 gets better soon.
Horatio Flynn
Adular: Very sorry you're having a rough time now. If the GM allows you to live, perhaps you may have the chance to return to us? Meanwhile, I hope the new year brings better things than this one.
GM: I apologize for not posting sooner; however, as it is late and I still haven't posted more than formal Free Actions, I'll rectify that now.
Meantime, as Adular is no longer in, I suppose I'll bot him - and I guess Dhaavan as well; though hopefully we see him again soon.
GM: As soon as we hear what Dhaavan's elemental discover (if at all) then I'll have Horatio take his action - but for now I guess we'll find out more soon.
Rain Taneththir
Where is Variel currently positioned? From the narrative it says "standing blade to fang", but it was elevated 30 ft above water level... Is Variel still on the ship? Or on a serpent itself? Just trying to figure out before posting Rain's actions. Thanks. :)
Variel Nightstorm
|
Still on the ship but was trying to suggest adjacent to it to attack. I am picturing the sea serpent bent over ready to swallow Variel whole right now after that attack.
Without a map I am unsure exactly of positioning.
Variel Nightstorm
|
thanks, sorry for any confusion earlier.
Variel Nightstorm
|
haha, that would be interesting to have The Lady sail away without her captain. Wouldn't be a problem but I don't have fly spell prepared today.
Rain Taneththir
If needs be, Rain would have handed the wheel to Amen and then flown to Variel and carried him with her mulecords, flying back to the ship. But that's the least of their issues. If Var hasn't killed it, then being left alone with an angry, wounded sea serpent in an ocean isn't ideal. ;)
Is Dhaavan around? He hasn't posted in game since 31st Oct. We need him at the moment ... ;P
Horatio Flynn
GM: Roughly how big is the tooth of a Sea Serpent?
I'll take 10 on all Knowledge Checks to discern that approximate size, by the way.
And Variel - well done via the Sea Serpent!
Rain; if you needed to pick up Variel we'd do all we could to help!
Horatio Flynn
GM: At this time I'm going to keep botting both Adular and Dhaavan during round 2 (I have already botted their actions this round).
This is because you indicated that players are supposed to post once in a 24 hour period (barring weekends) and if they can't play, to at least make a 30 second post to the Discussion Thread letting us know they'll be AFK for a bit.
I know Adular is no longer playing, but he's a member of the crew and he's still alive and until that changes I'm taking care of him (unless someone else wants to? I'm cool if they do).
I botted him casting a Bless Spell on the party - an action which affected Amen-set's attack and should have also affected Variel's actions.
Regarding Dhaavan's actions; Earlier I wrote that Dhaavan will have his Water Elemental search the water, but I also wrote that if for some reason the Water Elemental had expired, I've have Dhaavan summon another one for his action this round.
Since you told me that the Water Elemental had expired, I just had Dhaavan re-cast the spell for his action.
The Water Elemental will appear on our next round for Dhaavan to control and on Round 2.
If we don't hear from Dhaavan on Round 2, I guess I'll keep botting him again (unless someone else wants to)?
To be fair, I have no problem with anyone else botting players if people don't want me to, but I just don't want the game to stop for everyone simply because one player isn't posting.
Co-GM: As it's been more than 24 hours since we've seen a post from the GM.
Will you please bot him?
At this time we still need a battle map, and some of us have asked some questions - such as my question regarding the tooth, or Variel's question regarding if he hit the Sea Serpent, or if he killed the Sea Serpent.
Okay, that's pretty much it.
I hope everyone is doing okay, and I'm eager to see what happens next :)
Horatio Flynn
Flynn, the GM will be wrapping up the scenario with the sea serpent later today. It's midnight here so I'm headed to bed. Will check the board in my morning. Thanks for your patience.
Thank you for letting me know, Co-GM - I appreciate that.
I have no issue with you botting Adular and Dhaavan.
Sounds good.
As an aside, we had some good players join us for a time but then they left the game. One of them indicated that the lack of a role on the ship was a bit of an issue for him. Perhaps they might be interested in rejoining the crew if we're losing our primary cleric?
DM Immortal
Basement flooding. Trying to address the problem. Will post a bit later tonight

Basement flooding. Trying to address the problem. Will post a bit later tonight
I hope your basement is taken care of.
Flooding can be a real problem; if there's anything we can do to help, let us know...
Javell DeLeon
Hello, folks! I'm the new guy.
I know most of you already from being in Variel's Wrath game(sure hate to see Ridge leave) but Dain and Rain are new to me.
Appreciate the invite and looking forward to it.
And sorry to hear about the flooding, bud. Man that stinks. Hope there's some form of "easy" fix involved and nothing major. I've never had a basement so I wouldn't know.
Horatio Flynn
Hey guys, I'm going to be AFK for the weekend; but I should be back Sunday Night.
See you all then and Javell, I'm eager to do more RP with you again, soon :)

sorry guys, long few days with recent snow fall. Will catch up today hopefully.

know arcana d20+58
[/b]
Lol! +58! That is awesome! If you folks need to know ANYTHING arcana, you just ask ol' Nightstorm here. There ain't NOTHING he can't tell you. :D
Okay I've got a million questions.
What kind of siege engines do y'all have?
Can they be fired by 1 person? If not, then how many people would it take to fire it?
And are there that many folks on this ship able to fire it?(I think I read somewhere it takes like 4 people to reload? Please correct me if I'm wrong).
Also, how often can you fire them?
I know pretty much nothing about siege engines so that's why I ask. I've never used them.
