Custom Race Guide - half-undead?

Rules Questions

If I'd like to create a half-vampire race; do I need to take the Half-Undead custom racial quality, or can I use the custom racial traits to build it?

I have a 11pt build, so I can use my points more effectively mixing and matching rather than taking the half-undead which is worth 5 points.

Thoughts? Thanks.

Anyone? :)

The idea is pretty poor. since undead can't really reproduce except by making another undead so that might be why you're getting no responses.
Undead just don't have the reproductive items needed to impregnate a living creature.

Actually, the idea isn't inherently bad at all. Hence why a 'half undead' template was included in the race building rules.

The half-undead template is intended to produce undead themed race without costing as much as, or being as powerful as, regular undead. If you feel it fits your race, then go for it. If you feel your race is a bit different than what the half-undead template offers, then spend your race points on other traits. It's your race, and no one gets to tell you if you're doing it right or not.

The only peace of advice I can give is that the race construction guide is far from perfect, and best used as a rough guide, rather than cold, hard rules. The costs of some traits are fairly off. For example, the half-undead type you're looking for is 5 RP, whereas buying the traits that make up the subtype cost only 3 if purchased individually.

It's all about background story BltzKrg242.

Anyways I don't seem to grasp the concept of what the subtypes do, other than give you a starting "template" for the ones that cost you some points. Anyone else have an ideas on what the purpose of those are for?

An easier approach might be just to play a dhampir for the mechanics, then make up whatever story you want for the character's background.

Originally I was thinking that, but I wanted to create something that will give it more traditional vampire qualities that are found in books and movies. There are a lot of great traits that help with that.
