Not to jump on the band wagon, but I've wanted to switch my current alias (my name) with my default avatar (a handle I no longer use) for a while now, mostly for recognition and review purposes (I would prefer any reviews I write be written by Christopher Delvo, not xXxTheBeastxXx). If this could be done, I would be more than thankful.

This is actually not something we normally do, but we recently added some tools to customer service's kit that makes it possible now. We're still trying to figure out if this is something that we want to be doing for people. We take questions of identity (even pseudonymous identity) seriously because it's one of the key elements of maintaining trust in an online community.
So we're going to talk internally about what kinds of name swaps we want to allow. If I had to guess, I'd say we'll probably come down on the side that says you can swap your real name into or out of an alias, but not two pseudonyms for each other.

My motivation is that I've been getting into freelance design in the past two years, and my primary account name is something I made up while typing when my actual name (Chris Harris) was apparently already taken. Then it turns out that there is no one by that name when I try and look them up. In fact, if there is no one actually using that name then I'd really prefer to have just 'Chris Harris', but if not then my current alias will be fine, and thank you. As to 'maintaining trust in an online community', that's exactly my motivation across a couple of forums.

My motivation is exactly the same as yours, Chris. I'd love for my actual name (Christopher Delvo) to be my account name (currently xXxTheBeastxXx), if only so that when I submit freelancing submissions and post reviews, people see MY name, as opposed to an online handle that no one is going to remember.
