As I am a huge Total War geek, and have been enjoying playing as various Scandinavian factions of late, I was wondering what the statistics for this weapon would be:

A swordstaff, or "hafted sword."

According to what I've read, it's supposed to basically be like a short sword put on a haft. I'm not sure how such a weapon would behave in-game. Most likely it would be Piercing and Slashing, and it would have reach, but I'm not sure what other qualities it should have, like damage and whatnot.

A close-up of the head.

I'm not homebrew master, so I'd like some advice. How would you stat a swordstaff in Pathfinder? I'd like to play an Ulfen warrior who uses it as his weapon of choice.

Is this what you mean?

Pick a polearm, use that.

Look up naginata in the Ultimate Combat book.

That is what I was going to say. :-)

Great minds :)

Oh he's talking about that weapon from Dragon Age 2?
Yeah, I've toyed with creating a weapon thats a magical staff with a blade on one end...

Super genius games released a book with the swordstaff in it. I think it's .50$ at the moment.

Edit: Here it is

I'm talking about the one on the left in the picture, the one that looks like a spear with an S-shaped crossbar. The other polearm in the picture is a halberd, yes.

Check out the swordstaff in that supplement. It's pretty sweet, you can either use it as a reach weapon or regular, you just need to use a swift action to switch.
