I expect this will received in the same manner as DC's New 52. Longtime fans may have a fit, but the infusion of new blood into the customer base will balance it out.
This may even be a better move for Marvel at this time than it was for DC last year, while their IP is riding the wave of financial success that their movies have produced.
They already DID try this. Anyone remember the Onslaught storyline, with all the non-mutant heroes zipping off to another world, where they all got to relive their origin stories again, only to be brought back through the most heavy-handed writing I ever saw in Marvel? Yeah.
I am not impressed. Except by their decision to revive Rocket Racoon. Yay!

Marvel lost me with Civil War, I stopped reading any Marvel about a month or two ago when I cancelled my Daredevil monthly order.
TBH, the DC reboot brought me back to comics, I'm guessing the new Marvel launch will do the same for others, but I'm not interested. Marvel has gone too "commercial" for me blurring the lines of a rich histories that I grew up with and the commercial success of their sometimes canon-butchering movies.
Recently I started going through my old Marvel boxes (mostly to catalog 4000+ comics) and figuring out where exactly the "sweet spot" was for me. I think it ended roughly in 1995 with the loss of Claremont on the X-books (Uncanny 281 or so). I have yet to go through my Spider-Man books but I'm guessing that "sweet spot" ended at the Clones storyline when they gave us the multiple Spider-Men. It would be interesting to see if that happened close to the Claremont departure. When the Hulk screwed the pooch would be abit tougher to nail down. IIRC, the Gary Frank days might have been later than '95, but tbh the Hulk was always more isolated from the crossovers than most other core books. To me the screwing over of that book came with World War Hulk storyline and the new Red Hulk. Kudos to Marvel for keeping that book semi-alive, especially with Planet Hulk which was excellent IMHO.
At this point, there is nothing alluring about Marvel for me. I'll keep reading more reveals before the October reboot or relaunch (theres a good deal of speculation about which term is actually the correct one at this point). It doesn't look good though.
1) Stan Lee is gone.
2) Quesada is making decisions.
3) Disney owns Marvel.
Yeah, It doesn't look good.
Disclaimer as usual.... YMMV (especially with the newer, younger, tech-savvy NOS injected comic fans).
All the images I've seen for Marvel NOW! have the Ultimates version of Nick Fury in them - which makes me nervously wonder who's getting absorbed where and what we'll be left with in the end.
You know, I still prefer the Ultimate's Universe instead of the "standard" Marvel world.

The Ultimates version is now the regular Marvel Version as well.

And Steve Rogers' 'head of shield' uniform. (At least the action figure will be an easy fix. Commander Rogers' body, a modified Luke Cage head.)

I mean, aside from the back issues box at the funnybook shop.
Based on Comic con info, it looks like less of a Marvel reboot and more of a reorganizing of titles and in-universe alliances to create a new starting point for people. There seems to be no real change in history.
I was pretty disgusted with Marvel's "Civil War", but kept reading as far as "Secret Invasion" in hopes that Tony Stark would be revealed to be a skrull. No such luck. I dropped Marvel soon thereafter. I dropped DC when "the New 52" came out. So I'm done with both the big comic companies. I wish them well in an abstract sense, but their products no longer interest me.
Yeah, everybody calm down. It's not a reboot, just another relaunch of some titles, like Heroic Age and all that noise. It's a bit sad that a few really good books get the axe ( Journey into Mystery, for example ), but maybe some good new books will come out of it.

Ditto for the civil war nuking Marvel comics for me.
I was 50/50 on the new DC reboot. Overall im pleased so far with the titles I get (just not so happy with Teen Titans, Red Hood, and Legion Lost).
It's kind of funny that the only way for Marvel to get me back is a total reboot ala New 52.

Which, hopefully, will never, ever, ever happen. I like that Marvel has one continuity, messy as it may be.

I was reading very few DC titles before Flashpoint so the New 52 was a jumping off point for me. I have my pre 52 books and that's the DC history thats my DC history as jumbled and convoluted and messy as it was. No anger toward DC in general but their need to remove thier legacy heroes (Wally West, Kyle Rainer, etc.) to replace them with the silver age versions (Barry Allen, Hal Jordan) was a HUGE turn off for me and was the beginning of the end for me. I gave the Green Lantern books a try and they were alright but the Flash books were expectedly disappointing. So no more DC for me.
Marvel NOW is not a reboot. It's a rebranding of the titles but the continuity isn't being wiped out and remade.
I hated Civil War. Of all of the major events that have happened in the past 8 - 9 years it's the only one that I refuse to own in trade form. The stories that came out of Civil War were pretty damn good though. Like wise with the stores that came out of Secret Invasion and Siege.
Matt Fraction's Iron Man actually made me like Tony Stark again and is arguably the best run the book has had in a decade or two.
Jonathan HIckman's Fantastic Four run and well as the Fantastic Foundation (FF) title is the best the book has been since Byrne's run and I LOVE Mark Waid's run from a few years ago but this run is better and waaaaay more epic in scale than Waid's.
Bendis is hit or miss with me. I love his New Avengers vol.1 and have almost every issue and all of the HC trades. Ultimate Spider-Man to me IS Spider-Man. Ever since Brand New Day I havent read the regular Spider-Man title even though I have two trades from Dan Slott's run on my shelf. Ultimate Peter Parker and Miles Morales ARE Spider-Man to me. I havent read Bendis's Daredevil run but...
Ed Brubaker's Daredevil run was fricking EPIC. I have both of the huge Omnibuses so basically his entire rune. His Cap run was really damn good as well. I even liked his space faring run on Uncanny X-Men.
For me? Marvel has had missteps over the past 10 years (One More Day, Civil War) but they've done a lot more that was right (Avengers Academy, their cosmic titles - Annihilation, Nova, Guardians of the Galaxy, Priest's run on Black Panther, even though I'm not a fan of the character or the writer Ennis on Punisher, Ultimate Spider-Man, etc). So I'll keep giving Marvel my money especially since their trade program is pretty decent although they are starting to become stingy with the page count in their regular trades.
So yeah...Make Mine Marvel.

Looks like the moon (knight) will rise again, with Warren Ellis at the writing desk. I'm beginning to think MK's ability to not stay dead doesn't just apply to his comic book appearances. Like She-Hulk, he seems to have the power of series resurrection.
