RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 16

Here's a Grippli Ninja/Monk I played in a high-power game (w/lots of custom goodies given out by the DM, and larger-than-life boss monsters).

i don't have rough builds for most of these characters, most of which are female and could fit the ninja theme without neccessarily being a ninja. i haven't gotten a chance to play most of them for too long.

Her Excellency, Countess, Umbriere Nera Nox Astrum Lunas Moonwhisper IV. goes by the Alias Maximilia, Sickly Fetchling Bard who uses her diplomatic skills to manipulate people like they were merely marionettes. a master of both flash and shadow. the basics include Dump STR and CON for flavor, don't make yourself a target, Max INT and CHA, and use illusions and enchantments to mess around with your foe. you want diplomacy, bluff, perception and stealth as minimums.

Jadelocks, Male Oread Martial Artist, he does the ninja thing without being a ninja. sneaking around to scout and in combat, flurrying with gauntlets, because they count as unarmed strikes but can be enchanted as weapons. before your DM says gauntlets aren't very monk like, bring up the multitude of martial arts that use gauntlets or martial artists that would if they could.

Enma Ai, Female Human (Tian) inquisitor of Pharasma. Max Stealth and Perception, take either the death domain or conversion inquisition, and TWF with sickles. flavor your silken ceremonial armor as a black kimono or something. stealth and perception are musts and the herectic archtype is optional. this idea was inspired by Jigoku Shoujo.

Best ninja-ish build I've seen was an Alchemist (Vivisectionist) that used his potions and discoveries for stealth and infiltration, and fluffed them as ninjutsu.

I've built (but not played yet) a Catfolk ninja that focus on more bestial weapons, she had a climb speed, dark vision, scent and very, very sharp claws. The rogue talent which increases Sneak Attack dice from d6 to d8 when using claws, plus the Rending Claw Blade magic item are a very fun combination. The Black Cat feat is a life-saver and very flavorful.

Edit:

I think the build was somethng like this (20pt buy - Only went as far as 7th level)

Str 12, Dex 18 (+2 racial; +1 at 4th level), Con 14, Int 12, Wis 7 (-2 racial), Cha 16 (+2 racial)
Alternate Racial Traits: Climber (Climb speed of 20ft)
Traits: Reactionary (+2 Initiative) & Indomitable Faith (+1 Will Save).

L1 - Black Cat
L2 (Ninja Trick) - Vanishing Trick
L3 - Catfolk Exemplar (Sharp Claws)
L4 (Ninja Trick) - Finesse Rogue
L5 - Catfolk Exemplar (Darkvision)
L6 (Ninja Trick) - Deadly Scratch
L7 - Catfolk Exemplar (Scent)

It would be an Scout/Infiltrator type of character (Party Face too, if needed). My GM allows a few 3.5 feats, so I'd work my way to Force of Personality (if not allowed, I'd increase my Wis modifier by 1 at 8th level to reduce the penalty to Will saves and probably get Iron Will anyway, maybe eventually get a item bonus to Int for Improved Feint). At 8th level I'd get the Shadows Clones ninja trick.

Getting a Rending Claw Blade is vital for allowing the character to add enhancements to her claw attacks. Daredevils Sofpaw is pretty useful too. Vanish, Sneak Attack, Click Heels, Run, Repeat.

I'd pick the bonus skill point every level 'til 7th level. So I could get 9 maxed skills plus a single dip in a few others (a single rank in Climb gives it a +13 bonus)
Maxed Skills: Acrobatics(+13), Appraise(+11), Bluff(+13), Diplomacy(+13), Disable Device(+13), Perception (+10), Sense Motive (+8) and Stealth (+15).
Single Dip Skills: Climb (+13), Escape Artist (+7), Knowledge(Local) (+5), Knowledge Nobility (+5) (I gotta know who I should be robbing!), Linguistics (+5), Sleight of Hand (+7) and Swim (+5).

Shadow Lodge

There are loads they're just being stealthy.

It's that Vanishing Trick lol.

Okay so here is the abbreviated version of my npc build and I can't remember if I rolled or point bought. It's nothing fancy and the point of it is to spend the remainder of it's feats on the Extra Ki to offset the additional cost of Ki for the Forgotten Trick. So basically, they're a jack of all tricks Ninja who eventually has enough Ki to do whatever the F they want.

Ki Ninja:

Human Ninja 5

str - 9
dex - 18
con - 12
Int - 9
Wis - 12
Cha - 17

Ki ~ 7
HP ~ 31

Feats

H Two Weapon Fighting
1 Weapon Finesse
3 Weapon Focus
5 Extra Ki

Talents
2 Vanishing Trick
4 Forgotten Trick

The later tricks till 10 will be ones that either don't cost Ki like Fast Stealth or Hidden Blade so that you can avoid burning Ki when you can, or they will be ones that are higher cost like Mirror Image that you don't want to waste even more Ki on.

There is also the alternative of just picking up rogue talents too, since you basically have every basic ninja trick at this point.
