This came up because I was watching a UFC fight and one of the fighter got accidentally poked or grazed in the eye. When he was rubbing his eyes to relieve the irritation, he was totally provoking.
So I cracked open the rules book and looked up dirty trick but nowhere does it mention if the action to remove the affliction provokes. I guess I should have just assumed that it doesn't.
Anyway we rarely use combat maneuvers anyway, just seems so much more efficient to power attack and kill. Maybe maneuvers can use some loving, without having to play specific archetypes.

Compare and contrast:
You're on fire and you try to put out the flames; doesn't provoke.
You're caught in a net and try to get out; provokes.
You use a Dirty Trick to snare up someone's feet in a fishing net, they try to get out; doesn't provoke.
Cheapy's right though; making the penalty removal painful for the target is overkill for one combat maneuver.

Removing the penalty for trip (prone) and disarm (no weapon) both provokes. On top of that trip and disarm allows you to add the weapon enhancement bonus to the CMB check.
Would it really be that over powered that the action removing dirty trick's penalty provokes? You don't get your weapon enhancement bonus to dirty tricks, although it does work on more types of creatures compared with trip and disarm.

If Dirty Trick doesn't provoke AoO, I don't really understand the purpose of it other than the fact that it prevents an enemy from making a full attack. Please, help me to understand what it's usefulness would be if this is the case. I have the feat and can't come up with a thing. I'd like to make use of it if I can.
