RPG Superstar 2009 Top 32

Hi everyone.

I'm looking for links to any and all Bard magic instruments and magic items from or for Pathfinder. The items can be Pathfinder approved, Messageboard links, and RPG Superstar castoffs, discards, or rejections. They can also be OGL items from other sites and vendors. They can be personal builds from your own campaign.

I'm looking for any instruments/items outside of the Core Rulebook, Advanced Player's Guide, and the Magic Item Compendium.

Bard magic items and magical instruments seem to be in short supply. I've finally got someone playing a bard in a campaign after years of gaming and want to have a couple decent bard magic item rewards for the campaign.

All suggestions and posts welcome.

Thanks,

kid america

While not Bard specific, they would be of interest for a bard. and yes, they're Homebrew.

Horn of Healing
The Horn of Healing is a magical instrument made from the horn of a rare white minotaur that has been carved with runes of health, vigor and growth. When the horn is sounded (a standard action), the wielder and all allies within 45 feet receive 3d6+7 points of healing from Positive Energy. This ability does not affect undead, constructs or mindless creatures. The Horn may be used 3 times per day, after which it has no magical properties until sunrise the next day.
Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Items, Cure Serious Wounds. Base Price: 13,500 Gp

Horn of the Heroes
The Horn of the Heroes is a magical instrument made from the horn of an Elder Red Dragon, carved with runes for Strength, Courage, and Fortitude. When the Horn is sounded (a standard action), the wielder designates either himself or one ally within 60 feet to receive the effects of the horn. That target receives a +4 Bonus to both Strength and Constitution for 14 minutes. The Horn may be used 3 times per day, after which it has no magical properties until sunrise the next day.
Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Items, Bull's Strength, Bear's Endurance. Base Price 13,500 Gp

Does anyone have any cool magical instruments?

All lutes, lyres, pipes, drums, and mandolins welcome.

Heck I'll even take bag pipes and accordions.

Alvin's Harmonica: When used by a bard, projects a cone of Hideous Laughter, 60 feet long. When used by a non bard, 30 foot radius effect. Just homebrewed it, so am open to suggestions of cost and DC save.

Great Homebrew Suggeston Goth Guru.

The harmonica. Dreaded almost as much as the bagpipes.

two that are already here and awesome.

Lyre of building, the labor of hundreds lead by one with slaveish obedience. requireds some clever thought but a bard can easily make the perform check required and with a few cleric minions following him about can easily play for several days at a time.

The banner of ancient kings,
Use a long spear and tie this onto it,
get +4 init, +2 vs mind affecting for whole party, while holding the banner you gain a reroll vs and mind affecting effect that is currently on you. If you're a bard you are considered +4 levels for inspire courage, If you have the Flagbearer feat the bonuses from its effects are doubled while using the Banner of ancient kings.

A circlet of persuasion is a fantastic item for a bard because it boosts any skill that you have versatile performance for, plus UMD and any social skill you don't have VP for. It also, oddly, doesn't take up the same slot as a headband of alluring charisma (the circlet is "head", the headband is "headband").

Attach the longspear to your backpack so its always on.
When the PCs call you a bannerman and laugh, the NPCs will all look like confused spaniels.

You could make something like a rapier that increases the effective level of all bardic performance abilities by 5 and has an enhancment bonus thats two higher in the hands of someone with bardic performance.

So a +2 Harmonious rapier would act as a +4 rapier in the hands of a level 10 bard, and all his/her performances would be effectively level 15 for the purposes of DC and bonus.

I would jump on that as a bard.... Especially as an Arcane duelist.
