A druid or ranger gains a +4 circumstance bonus on Handle Animal checks involving her animal companion.
Does that bonus apply to anyone's animal companion (Cavalier, Life Oracle, Sylvan Sorcerer/the debatable EH Sylvan, Mounted Fury, Scalykind domain possessors and most notable for this, Animal Domain users)
I'd say it is just an oversight with non-core additions, but Animal Domain clerics are core, which means it potentially a copy-paste oversight, as that line is the same as 3.5.

the important piece is "her"
the bonus is granted fur to the personal connection to the companion, so it is not granted to anything/anyone else
I don't know if its an oversight or not but this is how it is based on the sentence
I would as GM do allow however a +2 bonus to all handle animal checks on animals of the same type as my own companion however, due to familiarity

I think they just get the +4 for their personal animal compaions, not on every one.
I meant that if a non-druid or ranger got an AC through one of MANY methods, would it gain the +4 bonus on handle animal (which is actually fairly important. A charisma based class only needs 1 handle animal rank to. Animal Companion granting classes stack for Druid anyways, so no way to get multiple animal companions.
And before anyone asks, the ommision of Paladin is intentional as their animal companion is of non-animal intelligence.

if you get this bonus for handle animal though some method other than actually having an animal companion I would say it won't work at all and won't give a bonus to anything as it is focused on your own animal companion
if you get this handle animal bonus and also an actual animal companion then it would work as the criteria to have an animal companion you actually CAN give this bonus to is there

Some people seem to be confused about what the question is (or I am). If the question is: "Does a character who is not a druid or a ranger, but who gains an animal companion, get the same +4 bonus to handle his own companion that a druid or ranger would get to handle hers?" RAI I can see no reason why not. There is a strong argument for them to get it RAW as well, since most have a wording similar to the following:
A cavalier gains the service of a loyal and trusty steed to carry him into battle. This mount functions as a druid's animal companion, using the cavalier's level as his effective druid level. The creature must be one that he is capable of riding and is suitable as a mount.
(emphasis mine)
Since the +4 bonus in question is part of the animal companion ability, and the cavalier's ability (for example) doesn't specifically exclude the bonus, it again seems clear that you get it.

Now I understand it better, if how you say it is correct
Yes, the skill that grants the 4 bonus is part of the ability which grants the animal companion
So yes, you get the bonus, but as per rules this bonus is only given if you use the skills on your own animal companion
(only if the question is as Danny wrote)
