come on someone must know something

What is an 'arrow swarm'?

Is this some term from a video game? Folks often look for in-game equivalents.

I think he means firing arrow in a volley?

I believe he does.

In which case, the answer is "no".

However, the old 3.0 non-OGC book Heroes of Battle has rules for it starting on p68.

You are correct they are fired in a volly but with little atempt to aim them
And just using sheer volume to cause damage (english lond bow men where famous for the
Use of thias tactic)
Where asa a volly just means fireing on mass but a volly can be aimed
But thanks for the help think I have a copy of heros of battle somwhere I'll look it up

Grand Lodge

PCs or DM using this tactic?

I wonder what the CR would be for a swarm of magical animated arrows buzzing in a cloud like locusts. Surely you could have a swarm of animated objects.

Completely not what the OP meant, I know, but the thought occurred to me.

I would treat it like a trap and assign it a CR and To-Hit in whatever area of effect you deem correct.

There are any number of ways to model this.

1. Treat it as an area of effect with a reflex save for half damage.
2. Treat it as an ares of effect with a single "to hit" roll on each character in the area.
3. Treat it as a general level of damage modified by the type of armor a character has.

There are no rules in the game for this. This is the sort of battle mechanic usually seen in much larger army vs army combat systems.
