Barbarian Rage

Rules Questions

Hi all!

Question: is there a game mechanic that limits the rage-unrage of barbarians?

my player was chasing a hobgoblin boss up a corridor. they fought and he slew him. while enraged he was still in the +hps, but under zero when unraged.

he wanted to take a potion and/or run back to his companions (he had left them behind to chase the boss).

Is that legal to do so considering he had the rounds remaining? Can he stay in Joe Pesci mode even if all his opponents are dead?

thanks!

Yep.

Rage (Ex): "A barbarian can enter rage as a free action."

and

"A barbarian can end her rage as a free action and is fatigued after rage for a number of rounds equal to 2 times the number of rounds spent in the rage. A barbarian cannot enter a new rage while fatigued or exhausted but can otherwise enter rage multiple times during a single encounter or combat. If a barbarian falls unconscious, her rage immediately ends, placing her in peril of death."

He can stay in rage as long as he wants, assuming he has the rounds remaining, and he's conscious.

Does the GM consider "drinking a potion" an ability that requires patience or concentration? If so, then he can't do it. If not, he's fine.

Personally, I drink while angry all the time. ALL THE TIME.

Given that there's several rage abilities _specifically_ about drinking while raging, I think it's OK.

Dark Archive

He is perfectly fine performing most actions while raging, and it's not required that he has any enemies around to begin raging or continue his rage.
