Interest in an orgainized crime type game in Golarion?

Recruitment

This is a thread to see if there's any interest in playing in a game, set in Golarion, that sees the PCs as neutral or evil gangster types.

There will probably a fair to heavy amount of RP, though of course there will be a good deal combat as well.

Also,
I am tentatively thinking of using a module for this game, but I am unsure if there's any out there that would fit this concept. If anybody has any suggestions, please feel free to share. I know Way of the Wicked is an evil AP, but as I am currently playing in that, I do not wish to spoil it for myself.

Ooh that could be fun. Any limits on race/class restrictions? By the way nice name.

There are not really any modules that do this. The only evil module/AP that I know of is a 3pp adventure, but it is being received well. The PC's have to break out of jail and make a kingdom fall.

@ Wraith, that would be Way of the Wicked, which I am currently a PC in.

As of right now, there is no race or class restrictions, save the obvious no being a Paladin. However, I may turn down any submission that is too wonky, over the top, etc. This will be a gritty-esque game, and while there will be plenty of common "fantasy" stuff, I don't want players going overboard with their PCs.

I intend to buy the ARG, either PDF or Hardcover, so its likely I'll allow anything from in there, or a created race. Bear in mind however that unless you have some sort of serious alteration abilities, looking very non-humanoid won't be that good.

That's not to say "monster" races aren't allowed, but the more they stray from being akin to the core races in appearance, the less likely I'll accept them.

One major point I want to make clear, which should have been in the OP:

I am incredibly knowledgeable about real world organized crime. I'm Italian, which means I know people. Growing up, while he was still alive, my dad loved mafia stuff and we used to watch a great deal of shows, movies and documentaries on it, and I still do this plenty on my own. I've done a lot of independent research on organized crime and even took a college course on it.

All that said, this will be a mature themed game. I won't put my players in situations that make them uncomfortable, but the more illegal activities you all are involved in, the more I can work with.

I would have no problem with drugs, poisons, prostitution, slavery, etc. as well as the normal things like protection rackets, money laundering, assassinations, robbery, and so on.

Well this sound indeed amazing and got even 2 concept mind. I am huge fan of Sopranos & Godfather (thus inspired for this concepts)

Well, I just had this awesome idea of: "Mickey" Garazch aka the Dream Crusher: small time drug maker & dealer [Gnome alchemist] who has a bit obsession of researching new set of drugs and making his own life interest with drugs by using the drugs at first on himself in order to avoid Bleaching

or Ander Tarviano, self-named & most famous=(in his own head)

profession:
prostitution dealer and information gatherer in the town
[Bard, Sandman/Chelish Diva archetype]

That sounds pretty cool actually. All sorts of concepts spring to mind, but none so far have stood out among the others.

you know Im down Voice of Awesomeness ^_^

thinking of going with a cleric or wizard (necromancy) with a rogue dip possibly

- Cairn Stern is a grave robber who plunders graves and tombs for treasure and the secrets of the dead. He also has quite a few other plans on how to profit off of life's one certainty; death.

So basically an evil urban kingmaker? So the players would be a motley crew looking to make a name for themselves? Or is each running their own racket?

Sounds like so much fun, could be the guy going around breaking legs to collect or whatever. I'm so down for making a guy. What are character creation rules?

Sovereign Court

I am also interested in this idea. I have an oracle that has an organized crime background, kind of like russian mob deal as her concept.

Dotting this up if it goes further

Might swap out the oracle for witch

So if we have created races, would you like it pm'ed to you, or just posted?

Thinking 3rd level

Probably 20 point buy.

Most importantly, I'll well written, detailed backstories. I'll have some questions I'll want answered at some point over the weekend.

If this gets a few more interested posts, I'll create a proper recruitment thread.

Sovereign Court

awesome, will indeed go with an older female witch. Will start to flesh out details so that I'm ready in the event you start recruitment

If the players are mature (enough) too this could be a good one.
I'd like to play a brute. No brains, no regard for human(oid) life but lots of force while trying to hide his low-self esteem caused by not being the smartest knife in the drawer. He'll probably have some smarter guy with brains to team up with who can use his muscles.

edit: not sure about race/class yet. Class would be a melee one, race something big (monstrous? I'm not really familiar with those but I could always go with half-orc if there's no larger alternative, anyone?).

I had a concept for a goblin bard mocked up. More of the comic relieve used to distract and cause a ruckus than anything else. Would that work or would you prefer something else?

Unless something more interesting comes to mind, I may submit a cleric of the old gods out of faiths of corruption. He'd probably be that weird guy that doesn't seem to care too much about the stated objectives of the group, but does his job enthusiastically all the same.

I'm thinking a corrupt priest of an ostensibly neutral God, possibly Abadar. Something along the lines of the Borgias. I'll get something worked up over the weekend.

Make it PvP, good guys and bad guys.

Good guys could be, a member of the guard, some sort of agent for the ruling body, a "good"/"loyal" branch of the local thieves guild, someone passing through town who got mugged, robbed, local acolyte, etc...

What area of Golarion do you plan to set this in?

Are you adverse to using a toon from a PBP game that failed? I have a great 1/2 orc Rogue Thug that would be awesome in this... Muscle but with some brains.

he's a stunted little street dweller 1/2 orc as opposed to the brutish giant normally depicted...

How do you feel about psionics? I'd like to try the new Dread from Dreamscarred. I must admit though I'm not amazingly knowledgeable about Mobsters. I haven't watched Sopranos for instance. Does that disqualify me?

I'm not opposed to Psionics, especially since I was a playtaster for Dreamscarred's first book. I do not know about the Dread, what book is it in? I have access to them all.

As for disqualifying you, not entirely sure. Can you play a criminal? If yes, then you're at least off to a good start...

Sovereign Court

Do you plan to open recuitment?

The dread is in the 5th book of 6 "Master the Battle." I Haven't looked over it entirely myself but I know it's based a lot on fear.

I most definitely Know how to play a criminal. I just might not catch all the inside jokes. I'm willing to learn though and if you have any "homework" I should watch let me know.

Yea, I'll open recruitment shortly. I wanted to make sure there was enough interest, which it has. I was way too busy today, helping my sister throw an end of the year pool party for my niece's kindergarten class.

Give me a bit and I'll throw it up and toss a link here.

Are all alignments allowed, or do you prefer certain ones?

So, do you think the featured races from the ARG will be acceptable? I have a character in mind that I think would be pretty cool as either an Aasimar or Undine.

Here ya go!
