Spectral Hand magic item

Advice

Anyone see a magic item that allows spectral hand at will?

Not that I know of.

However, a command word, unlimited use wondrous item that takes up a slot (similar to a hand of the mage) would have a market price of 2 x 3 x 1,800 = 10,800 gp, based on Table 15-29.

I gotta hand it to you. That seems like a really handy item. Would love to get my hands on it, and would pay a hand-some sum for it. It'd enable me to lend a hand where it's really needed. More hands make less work, after all. Hope my GM can hand-le it.

Hope that wasn't too long a stream of off-hand remarks. XD

This magic item is WAY WAY WAY WAY too powerful to cost anything less than 25-30k at market, as it essentially gives you a free reach spell metamagic on every touch range spell. If the PC that wanted it didn't craft it themselves then I would simply tell them that no NPC is interested in commissioning the piece due to plot armor, or time investment.

Limited to 4th level spells. If the creature has 10ft reach or more, the hands cops an AoO before it can get close enough to deliver the touch (and it has a static AC). If you always have it active, you're always liable to cop an extra 1d4 damage from AoE spells if the hand fails the saving throw.

However, I'd personally price it as the same level as a ring of invis. Invis is the same level spell with a similar duration, and...well, invis is arguably at least as good as spectral hand (I'm inclined to think invis is actually the more useful spell).

Carbon,

While I may well agree with your assertion that the utility of a Ghostly Gauntlet is underpriced by the flat use of the crafting guidelines, (a) those guidelines are the standard for making magic items and (b) if you tone down the psuedo-urgency of your post you'd be more likely to convince/persuade/inform your readers.

TL,DR: your post is WAY WAY WAY WAY too emphatic to make ME want to do anything but argue with you...

Fiddler,

That sounds like a damn good solution, akshually, and sound reasoning to boot.

DCP,

Thanks for bringing us the math!

You forgot the x2 for the 1 min/level making it 21,600 gp
