The All-Rounder; or, building on a "flat" 15 point character

Advice

The flattest possible distribution for a 15 point build, before racial mods, looks like this: 12, 12, 12, 13, 13, 13. Simple, no? So here's the challenge: starting with these stats, build the most interesting possible character. ("Interesting" is of course a fairly broad term. But as the good judge said, we'll know it when we see it.)

Anyone?

Do you have levels you like? any restrictions. Obvious choice here is bard. Nobody is going to complain about inspire courage.

1 level of Summoner Synthesist. with a humanoid Eidolon, you replace those twelves for 16,12,13

From there, you have more options

- You can take levels in fighter and use a reach weapon (add reach evolution and combat reflexes and you can get 3AoOs per turn)

Hmmm. Can't judge what you'd think was interesting, but if I was handed those stats, these are some of the things I'd think of playing:

Human, Half-Orc, or Elf Fighter, focusing on combat maneuvers. I'd put my racial bonus into Strength for 13+15, Dex 12, Con 13, Int 13, Wis 12, Cha 12. Raise Strength and Con at 4th and 8th level respectively. Use Int to qualify for Combat Expertise and its various branches. Focus would not be on damage (but damage could still be solid with weapon training and specialization) but on harrying enemies and being a good teammate. With positive Wis and Cha modifiers I'd throw skill points into Survival and Intimidate for class skills (maybe build up Dazzling Display if I don't want to do as many maneuvers). Maybe a swordmaster type disarming and dirty tricking everything, or an orc chain/flail fighter tripping and disarming.

Dwarf Cleric. Str 13 Dex 12 Con 12+2=14 Int 12 Wis 13+2=15 Cha 12-2=10. Keep building Wis on leveling (maybe one level into Str). A sturdy healer who can take a lot of damage. Provides decent melee support but does mostly buffing and healing. Might choose an archetype that goes with the idea appropriately.

Gnome Bard -- Str 12-2=10 Dex 13 Con 13+2=15 Int 13 Wis 12 Cha 13+2=15. Classic jack of all trades, decent at spellcasting, knowledgeable. Stays out of melee mostly -- maybe do an archivist archetype, delivering great lectures mid combat about the springtime hygiene habits of rock trolls.

A more vague idea is some kind of barbarian -- seems slightly above average all around, then "hulks out" when raging -- wouldn't be the massive damage dealer people want barbarians to be but it would be fun to play the person who seems average and then gets tougher. (Could do that with Synthesist or Alchemist too but I don't really pay attention to those classes so I don't know how to do it.)

This is off the top of my head, maybe will think of more later.

Sovereign Court

Could work for a gish build - maybe Wizard/Fighter -> Eldritch Knight, or Sorcerer/Dragon Disciple. I'd like to say Rogue (or ninja), but unfortunately Rogues need all the help in the to-hit department they can get, which means either maxed-out Dex or Strength.

Elvish Alchemist would work nicely, too. It would be pretty versatile - you could use a strength mutagen (and some buffing extracts) and be decent in combat, a dex mutagen to sit back and hit people with bombs (touch AC is easy), or an intelligence cognatogen to buff yourself for other magic.

Rogue. Use skills a lot.

How about an even flatter 12 11+2 13 13 13 13?

I'd do a human polearm paladin 4/sorcerer 1/ gold dragon disciple 10, built for tripping. Core build:

Bumps go to strength, then charisma, then constitution.

He would end up with base scores of:
Str 18
Dex13
Con 16
Int 15
Wis 12
Cha 14

CL 8 sorcerer
BAB 11
Wings, fire breath, form of the dragon II, bite, claws, Nat Arm +3
4th level spells: Dimension Door (verbal only), Fire shield
3rd level spells (cast still if need be): Haste, Blink or Displacement

1) Combat Expertise, improved trip
3) Combat reflexes
5) Arcane armour casting
7) greater trip
9) Arcane Strike
11) Lunge
13) Arcane Armour Mastery
15) Improved critical? Stand Still?

Smite, made of hit points, mobile, great saves, spells.

Goblin rogue turns those stats into a Stealth +15 at 1st level.
