Prosthetic limitations

Rules Questions

What can you do, and not do, with a prosthetic, RAW?
For ease, let's say a Prosthetic arm.
I know you can hold a shield in one. I know you can hide little objects in it.
What feats/skills are unusable, due to the Prosthetic?

What can/can't be wielded/worn?

What penalties/bonuses accrue from wearing one?

Can you attack with it?

Can it be enchanted/animated?

There's rules for prosthetic limbs?

Grand Lodge

Well, there is a bit in Adventurer's Armory and Pirates of the Inner Sea.

This is about all I can come up with right now.

Grand Lodge

Nothing?

For prosthetic arms, depending on where they start and prosthetic hands, it should be possible to use them in a sort of locked gauntlet, maybe with some penalities to hit and to damage due to limited movements.

The Book of Distinctions & Drawbacks by Cryptosnark Games had rules for lost limbs...

It was written for 3.5...

You can find a PDF copy here for $5.95: Book of Distinctions & Drawbacks

There's some rules for prosthetic limbs in some 3rd-Party book I can't remember the name of that are a lot more helpful than the prosthetic limbs in RAW.

Grand Lodge

Ah. I truly hoped there was more. I have a one-armed character in the works, and was hoping to avoid 3rd party stuff.

Would having one arm effect the spellcasting of spells with somatic components?

No. This is made clear in the prosthesis rules found in the Skull and Shackles Player's Guide.

You still need a free hand, however, so if you've lost both, you might be in some trouble.

What can be on said arm, and still be capable of casting spells with somatic components?
Examples: gauntlet, light shield, buckler, scizore, cestus, madu.
How does this differ between divine/arcane?
Can a divine focus be held with the prosthetic arm?

A prosthetic is an object. I'd say you could "Animate Object" on it. However, I'm not so sure on how much control you'd have over it.

I'd say you could attack with a prosthetic as a improvised weapon and improve the damage from it via improvised weapon mastery.

I think it might be interesting to build a firearm into a prosthetic arm ala Trigun. Or build a rifle into a prosthetic leg ala Darkman.
