Disguise Self Clarification

Advice

hey guys quick question, i haven't used disguise self since 3.5 and i cant tell but i think it has changed. it says "You make yourself—including clothing, armor, weapons, and equipment—look different. You can seem 1 foot shorter or taller, thin, fat, or in between. You cannot change your creature type (although you can appear as another subtype). Otherwise, the extent of the apparent change is up to you. You could add or obscure a minor feature or look like an entirely different person or gender." now it says "You cannot change your creature type (although you can appear as another subtype)" does that mean if i was a human i can only change into subtypes of human like half elf? or can i change into something like an orc or something (i know i cant be a creature i got that) but i cant tell 100% from there wording weather like 3.5 you can turn into the other races or not as long as they are withing your high alteration range.

the creature type of a human is humanoid, so you can change into an orc or elf just fine. You could even appear as a short ogre (humanoid subtype giant) or a full grown ogre if you use enlarge person as well.

humans and orcs have the same type (humanoid) but different subtypes (human/orc)

So ya, you can change to look like an orc.

You can also look like a Gnoll, Lizardfolk, Werewolf, Tengu, or Troglodyte.

cool thanks guys, i thought that's what they meant but i wanted to make sure before investing in something like a hat of disguise for my character if i could only look like another human
