So, just noodling around, and I was thinking of making a Holy Gun for one reason or another. And, for style points, an elf Holy Gun, because if there's one thing cooler than an elf with a gun, it's an elf with a gun with rosary beads dripping off of it.
The big place where things fall down is feat selection. Smiting Shot is neat, in that you don't use it like Smite Evil once on the BBEG, you use Smiting Shot over and over again to blow up skeletons or whatever, gaining back the one grit (from Amateur Gunslinger) that you use on the Smiting Shot...by killing whatever you smote.

9th Improved Critical (pistol or musket)
Possible feat choices that look good
Rapid Reload (but only if using a musket)
Weapon Focus
Point Blank Shot
Precise Shot
Far Shot (boosts touch AC range)
Deadly Aim (more damage)
Weapon Finesse (since a Holy Gun uses Dex to attack and Cha for special powers, having a useful melee weapon as backup seems like a good idea. Elven curve blade maybe?)
one of those deed feats, or even Extra Grit
Quick Draw (for that one particular deed)
So, there's like 8 feat ideas for 4 feat slots. Any advice would be appreciated.

For feats:
Point blank shot, precise shot, deadly aim, then maybe weapon finesse or rapid shot. (Haven't read up on fire arms rules for a while, if rapid shot works it would be better.)
For the build though you may consider going:
Gunslinger 1 or 5 (mysterious stranger) / Paladin of Vengence 19 or 15. You get all the cool gun stuff and flavor without having to sacrifice smite.

I wouldn't bother with improved critical, honestly. An Extra 5% chance to crit isn't worth it IMHO. And you definitely want rapid reload, even with a pistol. Hell, especially with a pistol because w/alchemical cartridges that moves it to free action reload.
Far Shot doesn't increase touch range, it reduces the penalty for firing beyond the first range increment. Honestly, I'd go with the Divine Hunter for the free precise shot, because at the level you're building it you get smite 3/day with divine hunter. And don't be fooled by smiting shot, it's terrible. It's 1/day until you drop something, and what happens if an ally gets that last hit? You're screwed.
Mysterious Stranger 1/Divine Hunter 8
You get grit equal to your charisma mod which you can spend to add cha to damage for the whole round, not just one standard action shot, and you still have the normal paladin smite which is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than smiting shot.
Precise Shot(free), Point-blank shot, rapid reload, deadly aim, rapid shot, and then for the last feat why not extra grit.
Buy a pistol that is at least +1 and distance, and I'd probably play a halfling but that's just personal preference.
