So I was reviewing the Duelist prestige class and I had a question about the Precise Strike class feature...
A duelist gains the ability to strike precisely with a light or one-handed piercing weapon, adding her duelist level to her damage roll.
When making a precise strike, a duelist cannot attack with a weapon in her other hand or use a shield. A duelist's precise strike only works against living creatures with discernible anatomies. Any creature that is immune to critical hits is also immune to a precise strike, and any item or ability that protects a creature from critical hits also protects a creature from a precise strike.
My first thought is that this should synergize nicely with Dervish Dance*.
My second thought - and the first question I have - is can a Duelist execute a Precise Strike while holding a weapon in her other hand? It's quite clear that she cannot attack with that weapon.
My third thought - and second question is - if a Duelist takes TWF and ITWF along with Unarmed Strike she should be good to go alternating attacks with her fists (the other hand) and her light or 1 handed piercing weapon (which would deliver Precise Strikes with each iterative if we assume that the creature being attacked was living, had a discernible anatomy, and was not immune to critical hits).
For example - a 1st level Duelist with a BAB of +7/+2 and ITWF could make the following full attack sequence (assume no adjustments to attack bonus except TWF penalties).
+5 Piercing Weapon w/Precise Strike
+5 Unarmed Strike
+0 Piercing Weapon w/Precise Strike
+0 Unarmed Strike
*I am aware that Dervish Dance would not work in conjunction with my first question as the feat explicitly states that you cannot use this feat if you are carrying a weapon or shield in your other hand - which tells me that Paizo knows how to word a feat (or class ability) that excludes being able to hold** a weapon in your off hand.
**Refer to question 1

Yes. The bolded part is ATTACKING.

Questionable. If you have Improved Unarmed Strike, then your off-hand attack is a weapon. While by RAW you are not holding a weapon, I would say that it's splitting hairs over the clear intent of the wording which is attacking with your off hand. Run it by your DM by all means, but don;t be surprised if he says 'no.'
