Archetypes

Rules Questions

Can you take more than one archtype if the replaced skills don't overlap? Can you take more than one archtype where the replaced skills do overlap and choose which skill you want?

You can combine as many archetypes as you want so long as they dont replace the same class feature.

So if they both change your class skills, then you cannot choose it.

Might be best to post the ones you have in mind.

I don't have particular ones in mind. I was just wanting to know. 8)

And if they modify the same ability the same way? ie Musketeer/Emissary?

By RAW, if two archetypes modify the same ability they cannot both be taken EVEN if they result in the same change. However, I can easily see a GM houseruling this. - Gauss

Those archetypes don't modify it in the same way...

One takes away Heavy armor, while the other takes away Heavy armor and gives guns. So... They take away heavy armor.

They modify Weapon and Armor Proficiency class feature in different ways, that's the thing that matters. Just because one *part* of the modification matches another part of a whole different modification, it doesn't mean they work.

Alternate Class Features: "A character can take more than one archetype and garner additional alternate class features, but none of the alternate class features can replace or alter the same class feature from the core class as another alternate class feature."

So, does the Musketeer and Emissary replace or alter the same class feature from the core class?

Musketeer alters the Weapon and Armor Proficiency of the Cavalier.

The Emissary alters the Armor Proficiency of the Cavalier.

Armor Proficiency is a class feature of the Cavalier. Since Musketeer and Emissary both alter the same class feature from the core class, you cannot take both of them.

I got that first post after I posted, but Cheapy said something and I wanted to clarify.
