Blindsense and Blind-Fight

Rules Questions

Hi again,

another question:

Blindsense say:

Quote:

Using non-visual senses the dragon disciple notices things he cannot see. He usually does not need to make Perception checks to notice and pinpoint the location of creatures within range of his blindsense ability, provided that he has line of effect to that creature.

Any opponent the dragon disciple cannot see still has total concealment against him, and the dragon disciple still has the normal miss chance when attacking foes that have concealment. Visibility still affects the movement of a creature with blindsense. A creature with blindsense is still denied its Dexterity bonus to Armor Class against attacks from creatures it cannot see.

Concerning fights I would say that means: The DD knows where any creature stands (within range) except they have total concealment, right?

Blind-Fight says:

Quote:

1.) In melee, every time you miss because of concealment (see Combat), you can reroll your miss chance percentile roll one time to see if you actually hit.

2.) An invisible attacker gets no advantages related to hitting you in melee. That is, you don't lose your Dexterity bonus to Armor Class, and the attacker doesn't get the usual +2 bonus for being invisible. The invisible attacker's bonuses do still apply for ranged attacks, however.

3.) You do not need to make Acrobatics skill checks to move at full speed while blinded.

Let us limit the advantage to point 1 for my question. Total concealment could only occur in range/caster combat, can it? So if anyone is only interested in melee combat, the combination of Blindsense and Blind-Fight does not make sense, right or wrong? :-)

Thanks again!

Kindly regards,
Martin

I don't know what you mean by this.

Total Concealment happens any time you have line of effect to a target but not line of sight. Distance is irrelevant.

For instance, if you're in an area that is normally dark, and someone casts Deeper Darkness making it supernaturally dark, then even someone with darkvision cannot see. A creature that is adjacent to you would have total concealment.

Normally, you would have to make perception checks to figure out which square the creature might be in, then you could attack blindly into that square (50% miss chance).

If you have Blindsense, you know which square he's in, no guessing. Everything else applies normally.

If you have Blind-Fight, and you attack into that square and you miss, you get to re-roll that miss chance.

Hm, let's say, I have blindsense. And it's dark. No matter of normal darkness or deeper darkness with darkvision (think the result is the same).

Just in case of melee combat, which advantage brings Blind-Fight to me?

Invisible creature has total concealment. Creature that is hidden, even if it is square next to another creature has total concealment. All creatures have total concealment when attacked by blind creature.

You quoted the feat earlier. It does everything it says (and nothing it doesn't say).

If you can't see, and you try to attack someone, and you miss because of concealment, Blind Fight lets you re-roll that percentile roll one time to see if you actually hit.

In addition, if the creature can see (but you can't) the creature doesn't get the +2 to hit and you don't lose your Dex bonus to AC against him (which also denies him sneak attack).

In addition to all that, you don't need to make Acrobatics checks to move at full speed, this means you can still take a 5' step in the dark.

OK, thanks!
