barbarian rage

Advice

I've heard a couple times said about a barbarian "rage bouncing" to put to use its 1/rage abilities more often. What does that mean?

Liberty's Edge

Rage Cycling. Its when a barbarian is immune to fatigue. They rage for one round, then at the start of their next turn (when the 1 round is up) they quit the rage. At the start of their turn they turn their rage back on so all the 1/rage powers are back up.

ah so i have to wait till im lvl 17 to do this?

Or become immune to fatigue by another means, of which there are a few.

Liberty's Edge

That's the easiest way.

If you take a single level of lame oracle you can start doing it at level 9. I want to say 5 levels of martial artist will allow you to pull it off as well.

Also, a human can take an alternate racial trait to ignore becoming fatigued once / day.

oh ok thank you

Or have the party paladin use a mercy to remove fatigue as soon as the rage is over. Or take some levels in paladin and apply the mercy to yourself.

Most common 2 methods both come online at level 9:

1. Barb 8 / Oracle 1 - non-oracle levels count as 1/2 for oracle levels for curse benefits, so with Lame curse you'll be Oracle 5 effectively and get Fatigue immunity.

2. Bard 6 / Horizon Walker 3 - Desert terrain will give you fatigue AND exhaustion immunity. Compared to #1, this one preserves full BAB at the expense of a worthless feat, 6 worthless skill ranks, and two more levels of Barb progression lost. So #1 is the better option.

There is also a Bard spell, Invigorate (get potions) or some sort of plant/drug I can't recall the name of right now for short-term rage cycling ability.
