Eyes of Judgement - What's It For?

Rules Questions

Okay, so I was reading the feat Eyes of Judgement from Ultimate Magic and it says that you can use Detect Alignment, spend awhile studying someone (three rounds) and ... detect their alignment? I'm guessing it's missing something? Or is it meant to be what you can use when you DON'T have that class feature?

Hmmm....

It gives you the alignment, not the axis.

So you mean, after three full rounds you know that they're say, Lawful Evil rather than just Lawful? So it's a speedier version?

Yea. If you spent those three rounds detecting evil, you'd have no clue what their alignment is. Just that one of the axes was evil.

It's also worth noting that the detect alignment class feature only lets you use one of detect chaos/evil/good/law at a time. With the Eye of Judgment feat, it doesn't matter which one you use, as you'll learn the full alignment after three rounds of study regardless. For instance, you could use the detect evil part, and with Eye of Judgment learn that the alignment was Chaotic Good.

Plus that feat is one of very few ways, if not the only way, to detect if someone is of true neutral alignment.
