My searches keep coming up with 'homebrew' conversations... is there such a thing as official Pathfinder E6 rules?
My cursory google search shows "E6" in an RPG context to be a set of homebrew rules for level 6 characters that was created on some forums.
So, by official, do you mean a set of rules published by Paizo to have an E6 Pathfinder game? Or a set of rules by the people who made E6 to convert it from D&D to pathfinder?

Just something that isn't homebrew... or is it pretty much all homebrew? I've heard 'E6' mentioned often as if it were something specific, but I've never really investigated it before now. I'm getting the sense that its more a philosophy of sorts rather than a specific rule base.

Official in what way? Published? No.
Here is the original discussion on it.
It's really just a playstyle.

There's a slightly revised version here:
http://www.enworld.org/forum/general-rpg-discussion/206323-e6-game-inside-d -d.htmlI don't know if the inventor has ever played Pathfinder, so I doubt you'll ever find an "official" Pathfinder conversion. But it's easy enough to translate the idea from 3.5 to Pathfinder, IMO.

There is in fact a specific ruleset created for 3.5 on the enworld forums. But it was always homebrew. And the creator never did anything for pathfinder. But like others say its simple enough to apply to pathfinder.
