I play with a Netbook at the gaming table and was thinking of playing music when I have my Bardic Performances going...is this a good idea?
Is this too disruptive?
Hmm...ok yeah I'll check with my game mates ... now I just need a play list on Youtube.
Well I have Oratory, Dancing, and Acting as my performances.

No - you want music when a Bard you best start singing :)
On our table the Bard sings (badly) or makes up short poems or silly stories about his groupmates. It's a lot of fun for everyone on the table to the point that any games we do where we have no Bard and we miss him - while playing music may kind of be fitting, it's a dull substitute to performing yourself.
Bard is probably the most fun character to RP at a table. Admittedly everyone has their own playstyles and perhaps some may not like this one, but certainly our houserules are 'you don't perform, then you don't use your abilities' (the performance can be one line from a song, a 5s rhyme etc. no one expects War and Peace or a full Opera)
Play some Rihanna already :D
I do two things when I begin performances:
1) On my initiative I reach over and play trololo for about 15 seconds at a volume just under my voice.
2) I put a card folded to stand up that reads "+3 Inspire Courage" on both sides on the gaming table near the combat so everyone can see and does not forget to add the bonuses. Is also details the specific bonuses in smaller writing beneath the main statement.
Trololo is obviously hilarious, but it keys everyone in that something changed, and the card is bright orange construction paper so they get another reminder. Now the party asks how much trololo I have left for the day, so I'd say it's effective.
Being able to play background music at the table is the #1 reason to be a bard in the first place, IMO. :)
I'll try the "Trololo" and the cards idea and report back.
I also keep track of the rounds I use my Immediate actions with a little clip on my Netbook.
I suggest instrumental music or something in a language nobody understands. It won't be as distracting.
It needs to be well implemented but potentially this is a wonderful idea! I'll steal it for the next time I play a bard.

I am a trololo bard, too! Also, I use cards to indicate common buffs that I provide.
