We're looking at a party for Skull & Shackles which will begin this summer. So far we have:
A witch (time I think)
Ranger (switch hitter, or archery if the fourth guy is melee)
Barbarian (BSF, two hander type)
The last member is unfilled. My suggestion today was a half orc inquisitor with the sympathetic and amplified rage feats to outrage the barbarian. What would YOU suggest? Obviously we need a pirate theme, so paladins are pretty much out.

alchemist, either summoner (preservationist) or rogue (vivisectionist) or something else like vanilla.
It depends on the witch if she's a healer, summoner, controller, buffer, debuffer or whatever. Ranger and barbarian roles seems quite obvious (I guess).
Not sure how it would fit the pirate theme though, perhaps the summoner would put little ships and creatures in bottles as a hobby or the vivisectionist is a poison making assassin.

The alchemist preservationist could be pirate Darwin. Or you could play an aquatic domain druid if you want to . HYdraluic pushing people overboard or off cliffs could be fun. Yes the abilities sort of suck but the spells are awesome. You could even do tempest druid from inner sea magic to get the spells more often if you wanted to.

+1 bard for the buffs to go with the witch's debuffs. Really, though, the party is reasonably balanced. Witch can heal, debuff, and summon. Barb can do crazy damage and (once DR kicks in) tank decently. Switch hitter is, well, switch hitter. I suppose you could toss in a blaster or a god wizard, but neither are really necessary. Fourth player can play pretty much whatever he wants.
There is druid.... You said this was Skull & Shackles? Take druid. Nothing like warp wood to ruin the enemy's day, especially if you've already sacked their druid.

Yeah, but the player has played a cleric before so it's doubtful he'd do it again. He was looking at the bard dervish (if that's the one who didn't give inspire to the party) going into dragon disciple last I checked. I'm trying to get some ideas going for other stuff. He's never played an evil cleric though, it's something worth mentioning.

I know healing is very underated nowadays but I think you guys are nuts (brave, i meant brave...very braaave) going into an AP without at least someone who can heal.
Oracle, cleric or druid.
While the druid gets your group an expendable meat shield you guys already got the "nature" skill set covered. Your player does not want cleric, Oracle it is.
My favorities are:
Guisarme trip monkey battle oracle
Rage prophet lame life mystery oracle
Heavens mystery with haunted curse oracle
