In a recent session my character killed a well known ruler.Because of that he has been a large bounty has been placed on his head.
Normally this would not be a problem but there is a large number of assassins(of the assassin PRC) in the area. The threat of instant death if I fail to notice an invisible enemy for three rounds is a big one.
I have already been attacked by one invisible assassin and only escaped because of my eversmoking bottle and a lucky perception roll.
The character in question is a gunslinger( Musket master) 6/ Wizard(spellslinger)1/ Arcane marksman( gun version of arcane archer) 1.
What are some good ways to not killed in this manner? Other than walking around constantly surrounded by smoke, preventing them from observing me I am drawing a blank.

That's a tough one. You might not have a good option except to deal with it in-game.
There are a couple ways to go about it. My personal favorite would be to disguise someone to look like you and let them be killed in your place. Or to arrange for your apparent death in a faked explosion or faked attack.
You could always try to buy your murder contract. Or to join the assassin guild yourself.
Out of game, there's always another trick to pull. Once you have a guard dog with you, the assassins will spring a few gold for that alchemical item that hides their scent.
You could try to get a permanent way to see through invisibility... but they're still going to have very good stealth checks.
Blindsense, life sense, blind sight, and echolocation all might help, but you're not the right build to have easy access to them.
You're not a paladin either, so you're going to run into problems needing to sleep...
I suppose another way to approach this would be to try to make yourself immune to sneak attacks (and thus death attacks) in general. For that, you could pick up armor of heavy fortification, which gives you a 75% chance to ignore the death attack.

murder enough assassins and the price they demand will go up until noone can afford it.
Disguise as someone else, if they can't find you, they can't kill you. You could shave the party dwarfs beard and glue it onto you, 2 disguised for the price of none.
But really, you killed a well known ruler and you let someone alife who could identify you?
Oh, and keep your door locked at night.

Leaving people alive who witnessed the killing was somewhat the point. I shot the guy down in front of his army to discourage his cheap mercenary troops.
As for ways to detected the assassins would an intelligent item created with blindsense out to 120ft and the dedicated power to "detect any special purpose foes within 60 feet" be able to warn me of any people who are intent on my death/capture withing 60ft?

the magic item would be pure cheese and a GM is unlikely to allow it I guess, also it can't know the intent of someone.
another idea would be to get 20 lvls in Martial Artist very very quickly, they are immune to death effects.
Guilds should have a maximum influence, they are very unlikely to reach you if you go to another plane, so find a cozy one.
Or you could plot a big political intrigue against the assassins guild, manipulate the new ruler to root them out or something, perhaps assassinate the leader and by law you are the new lead assassin.
