I don't know if I'm understanding this correctly: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/bard/archetypes/paizo---bard-a rchetypes/masterpieces/the-lullaby-of-ember-the-ancient-sing

It seems a good masterpiece, but looking more closely it specifies it works like the spell Deep Slumber ( http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/d/deep-slumber ). It also says that unlike the spell, it targets only a creature, but it doesn't say anything about the "it affects 10 HD of targets". Does the "single target part" also replace the 10 HD limit?

Because if it is so, since you get it at level 7, it becomes pretty useless in a short time :o

It works more like the slumber hex. "as-if" effects in PF tend NOT to inherit the restrictions of the ability they reference.

Is this true?

No. It says functions as, then even gives an example of a limitation it's exempt from to show exactly how under that limitation umbrella it still is.

As written it's target one creature up to 10 HD. Nothing changes the limit there.

Nor can I find examples of were functioning as if something allowed a total blind eye to any inherit restrictions. No clue what that's about.

It looks like it's good for a few levels then not worth it. Just like deep slumber. A spell which, big shock, you and get at 7
