I never play a fighter and am kinda looking ahead to see what feats I'm gonna want to take. My question is, if your going to use cleave and have vital strike, do they work together. Does your first attack get double die damage? I guess the same question would go for power attack and vital strike. And maybe other combos

unfortunately no, cleave and vital strike can not be used in tandem, you choose to use one or the other.
power attack and vital strike can be used together, although you would only get the extra damage once, say using a greatsword with 18 strength power attacking with vital strike would be 2d6 + 9 strength damage, (4 base + 2 for getting 1.5 str mod being two handed , +3 for two handed power attack)

Small correction here: It should be 2d6+9+2d6 = 4d6+9 - you seem to have forgotten vital strike.
And those power attack values would be for those levels with BAB<4, e.g. fighter level 1-3.Vital strike is pretty good when you
a) need to move and thus only have one attack anyway
b) when you are pretty sure (from previous rounds) that you won't hit with your 2nd/3rd/4th attack, but you want maximal damage on the likely hit.

Vital strike is pretty good when you
Are a monster/creature with one big attack (e.g. T-Rex), or are a PC but somehow are being given the feat for free.
Otherwise it's not really worth the feat cost. It's something that needs to be tweaked into being useful. The devs realize this, and in essence have said as much in one way or another.

Vital Strike should add your BAB to damage, then the higher feats should add multiples of that (I think 2x and 3x for Imp. and Greater, others said that's too much and 1.5x and 2x is enough). I also had the damage bonus cap off at BAB +10, BAB +15, and BAB +20, for the 3 feats, respectively.
Back to the OP's questions... I would avoid Vital Strike and Cleave. Definitely get PA, probably get Weapon Focus and Specialization. Lunge at 6th level is very nice. Step Up if not using a reach weapon is strong, Pin Down at 11+ is good if using a reach weapon. Dazing and Stunning Assault feats (12 and 16th level, respectively) are excellent.

Cleave is reasonable as it allows cleaving finish which is nice.. together they work fairly well for a damage dealer.
