If it were me id make him 8th level barb and use his natural attacks taking the feats raging vitality, power attack, cornugon smash, and toughness. For powers id take reckless abandon, superstition, intimidating glare, terrifying howl. With trolls already having intimidating prowess feat he would have an excellent plus to intimidate while raging and with cornugon smash and initimidating glare you could potentially demoralize 4 pcs in 1 round and next terrifying howl would give you a much better chance of not being overwhelmed before you could deliver some pain.. hope this helps... i think this build would be a cr 13 though so maybe to strong..

his attacks would be somthing like +16/+16 claws power attking for 1d8+18 damage + rend 1d6+12 and bite +11 1d8+18 as well i believe.. pretty strong for the level if u include the 4 intimidate checks at +20... If your looking for a strong fight this would be it esp if u hit 4 pcs with dc 22 terrifying howl 2nd rd lol.. good luck

A fear build in pathfinder is never complete without 1 level of Thug archetype rogue, being able to trade in 4 rounds of shaken for one round of frightened is ludicrously useful.
Now you just toss combat reflexes and a reach weapon onto this thing and people will be too busy running away to hit him.
And even with that I think this combat beast might be under CR in comparison to some of the horrors that pop up at CR 12. A mature black dragon is a nightmarish thing, as is a Purple worm.
