Time consumption when upgrading items

Rules Questions

I have a +2 Intelligence Headband and I want to add a +2 Charisma bonus. Since I have to remove the Headband for upgrading I loose the skillpoint bonus. Fine so far.

Now the question how long does it take to add the Charisma bonus and how long do I have to remove the skillpoints. Weeks? Days? Hours?

The difference in cost is 6000 gp, so it would take 6 days and cost 3000 gp, assuming you are the crafter and can dedicate all your time towards it. You can accelerate the process to 3 days by upping the DC by 5 points.

If you take it to an NPC to have it upgraded you would pay full price. Realistically it should probably also take 6 or 3 days - but some nice GMs, mine included, tend to handwave the crafting time when getting stuff upgraded in NPC shops, as things run more smoothly that way.

Intelligence headbands don't give you skill points in pathfinder. They give you skills (1 for a +2 headband) at full level rank. So unless the skill is one you need to actually craft it, I wouldn't sweat it. In terms of adding the bonus, if memory serves, you're upgrading a 2000 gp cost to make item to a 5000 gp cost to make item. Typically that takes however long crafting 3k gp of magic items takes your character (i.e., not very long, 3 days I think).
