My character (human fey-blooded sorceror) and another player's character (human life oracle) just hit 12th level at the end of the last session so it's come time for us to pick spells.
I'm leaning toward Sirocco as my 1st 6th level spell, since it looks like a solid battlefield control spell. I can't think of a better spell to take, but I'm open to suggestions. I'm also considering Summon Monster VI as well since I don't have a Summon Monster spell yet.
Which leads me to the oracle. Since he's a life oracle he gets Heal as his mystery spell and said that he wants to take something offensive for his 6th level spell. I'm trying to convince him to take Summon Monster VI since I don't see anything else on the 6th level oracle spell list that comes anywhere near the potential offensive output as SMVI. He wants to take Cold Ice Strike, which to me is a mediocre spell. I know it's a swift action but a 30' line is unlikely to hit more than one, maybe two enemies and burning a 6th level spell for a blast that's only going to average 42 damage doesn't seem worth it to me.
Also, does casting a summon monster spell and directing the monster to attack your enemies break invisibility?

Depends (90%) on what choices you already made.
Sorcerer's lists (and Oracles) need to to be made as a whole. You only get limited spells (but you chose the best race for Sorcerers so that's good) so you don't want too much overlap.
Basically post up the lists.

However Summoning Spells are a good choice. Contingency is pretty good too!

What does your defense/buff spell list look like? There are the mass versions of all the ability enhaching spells and there is repulsion and antilife shell.
blade barrier is an all time classic 6th level cleric spell, both for offense and defense.
However, summoning spells are the most versatile, definitely worth investing a high level slot. Especially since you can access all the lower level monsters!

No.
Cold Ice Strike is good. An Oracle gets so many spell slots that in most campains the oracle damage output is more limited by the number of combat actions than its number of spell slots. So a swift action spell works quite well. At least for a combat orinteted oracle.
For the same reason i like Heroes' Feast. It does not eat up combat actions an gives a buff that lasts all day. But we have to few info about our character and party to give better tips.
Sirocco is good if there are engouh melee guys that can benefit from the prone condition. I like Disintegrate.
But you are fey-blooded? Doesn't that mean you get a +2 DC on compulsion spells ? So why not Envious Urge or Suggestion, Mass?

I'm not sure what the oracle's spell list is, but here's mine:
Oth: Detect Magic, Message, Mage Hand, Prestidigitation, Mending, Light, Ray of Frost, Resistance, Read Magic
1st: Mage Armor, Shield, Magic Missle, Charm Person, Feather Fall, Grease, Hydraulic Push, Burning Hands, Protection From Evil, Entangle
2nd: See Invisibility, Resist Energy, Hideous Laughter, Flaming Sphere, Mirror Image, Invisibility, Alter Self, Scorching Ray
3rd: Fireball, Fly, Suggestion, Deep Slumber, Dispel Magic, Haste, Resist Energy Communal
4th: Confusion, Elemental Body I, Acid Pit, Freedom of Movement, Dragon's Breath, Tongues Communal
5th: Commune with Nature, Teleport, Feeblemind
We haven't actually started the next session so I haven't picked a 5th level spell either, but I'm pretty much set on taking Dominate Person. I plan to swap out Resist Energy for Glitterdust.
Here are my feats:
Combat Casting
Cosmopolitan
Improved Initiative
Spell Focus: Enchantment
Greater Spell Focus: Enchantment
Spell Focus: Evocation
Persistant Spell
Extend Spell
I have a drawback that bars me from taking any Necromancy spells, which is why I have Freedom of Movement - normally my bloodline spell for that level would be Poison, and my GM was being nice to me. And he let me take Commune with Nature instead of my 5th level bloodline spell because Treestride is absolutely terrible.

Greater Dispel Magic is much better than dispel magic as it dispels multiple enchantments. Chain Lightning is a decent blast. Form of the Dragon gives you a load of oddball options and you can still cast. Flesh to Stone lets you insta-kill something on the fortitude save. Forceful Hand gives you a bodyguard.

You know...I'd have to agree that summoning is always a great option. However, from your feat and class choice build, I think Mass Suggestion might be ridiculously useful, since the base save DC (assuming you have at least the necessary Charisma to cast 6th level spells) would be DC 23 for that...anything with a lowish will save will fail that. Suggestion is a fairly decent spell, but...well, there are better ones I suppose, just not off the top of my head...

I think the trick on suggestion is what is considered "reasonable," so it depends on your DM and campaign. If you're foes are often the type to talk first and if they speak your language, it can be pretty powerful. (I have a SUGGESTION: Why don't all you theives go visit a brothel right now?) If your DM makes your life difficult with critters not speaking your languages, or critters that think anything besides killing you right this instant would be unreasonable, then it doesn't do much for you.
