What type of company are you looking for?

I started this thread to help people find a company to join or find enough interested people to get thiers off the ground.

So what type of company are you looking for ?
What type are you organizing ?

Right now, I'm leaning towards the explorer/ranger type. The noble wanderer of the wilds, guardian of the lost, shower of paths, maybe even a spot of bounty hunting.

Need to find some nice resources, need to know what's lurking in the wilds of the west, I would be your guy.

Of course its also possible that I throw it all in for a life of necromantic excess but as the game is a while off I figure I have time :)

One with lots of ponies and butterflies, where we can all hold hands and sing!

I am thinking about being the "Middle Man." The go to guy to find all your contracting needs, be it the guy who shows you the wilderness or you need a caravan guard arranged, or you were jumped in the alley or on your way to town. I know the people that can help you with your dilemma. That's what I was thinking.

A friend of mine and me are thinking about an Indiana Jones kind of company. Exploring hidden caves and dungeons to loot exotic stuff and sell it in a trading post (our settlement probably). We would also craft stuff and sell it.
Those would be two standing stones for our business. Selling found stuff (along with that comes military power in the sense of adventurers and explorers) and crafting new stuff.

Goodmine Company - We cater to your every need! :D

Another interesting thing I'd like to do is selling land/property.

And political play.

There's so much stuff that I want to do - I will wait for further information...

Well I will likely be playing two characters; one paladin type character and one bandit who will probably go down some sort of fighter/ranger path.

For the paladin I'd like to play with a religious order of some sort, preferably one who worships Iomedae. I love this kind of roleplay.

For the bandit I'd like to find a charter of people who not only wants to make it as bandits in the world but also want to roleplay them as much as possible. So that while we'll still kill you for your valuables, we also add to the feeling of immersion of the world by being bandits instead of PKers.

I would love to be a main/support type healer for an adventuring/exploring company. Also, master craftswoman. I am not a natural leader but I am a darn good follower/support type person. My favorite persona was a druidess in Everquest original.

I expect I'll be spending a lot of time crafting and mining while going on short adventures now and then. I'd be looking for people needing some muscle and willing to come together when one of the group gets threatened by bandits.

I'd want to form or join an organization with two goals: 1) adventuring and 2) forming a community and eventually a kingdom.

Crafting and merchanting sounds desperately dull.

I'm actually looking to form an organization of sell-swords. Mercenary adventurers who will hire out their services for various quests, and when the game progresses to that point, possibly even for various wars.

The goal would be to build a community who have agreed on certain 'prices' for their services, and who are available in major locations to 'assist' in quests for those prices.

The contract would be fairly simple:

The customer must pay contract fees half in advance. In case of failure to achieve the goals of the mission, this deposit is non-refundable.

Customers who do not pay the balance on a successful mission are blacklisted for life, unless they pay ten times the balance to the guild.

Customers have first choice from the spoils, but the contractor receives their fair cut as part of the contract.

If a contractor fails to fulfill their contract, the guild will make every effort to fulfill it, and the contractor will be subject to sanctions appropriate to the situation.

Thirty percent of the contract fee is due the guild, to finance advancements for the whole. Spoils of battle and the remainder of the fee are property of the contractor.

------------

I think that, given the sandbox nature of the game, such a guild could have great potential to really make a mark on the game. And if down the road when such things are available, a castle or city were to need a powerful guild to keep it safe. Well then, I'm certain they would be available.

There would also be need in such a group for able crafters and cunning merchants, to help gear the mercenaries and sell the spoils of adventuring.

Hopefully I can find other people that would be interested in it.

Perhaps we should consider joining forces, I have about 5 friends who will be joining me when I start my chartered company Pocket Ace The main difference is we are likely to be focused more on wars, with possible contracts for adventures rather than vice versa (partly because I find it less likely that many companies will have as much need of assistance for PVE content, though who knows we have no idea how the game will be designed)

My gnome berserker will be founding The Order of the :D. Including that smiley. The organization will be about making people's days brighter and protecting fellow players from unkind words and actions.

Spoiler:
I'm kidding.

Spoiler:
Almost certainly.

@Onishi I imagine your business opportunities will be far more numerous in adventuring earlier in the game as it will take time for hostilities to foment. I'll be facing the same issue with my band of merry assassins.

Unlike you, however, I don't have the option of forming an official alliance since, other than myself as a PR rep, the rest of my associates want to remain secret. That doesn't mean that they wont be going out and temporarily joining other guilds and working as sell-swords until their services are needed. Not to mention that helps lay the ground work for infiltration and espionage.

I want to go with a company that starts out small and does bounty hunting/lawkeeper/vigilante kind of stuff and then works into establishing a town where we keep order and protect the surrounding area. There are a few places on the map I think would be fun to do this. Like it might be nice to take over an island and make sure no griefers are able to establish themselves on it's shores. Then run expeditions back to the River Kingdom where we pick up people interested in settling on our shores.

It entirely depends on how many alts one can have in the game, and how crafting is run. I aim at this time to have three characters: a dedicated crafter of the armor and armaments type, a wizard, and a paladin (of Abadar!). My goal would be for my happy band of alts to form the nucleus for a small chartered company, and build/run a small hamlet somewhere. Crafter to build it, wizard to do the accounting and enchanting, and the paladin to protect and police it. Hopefully, I'll have some IRL friends join up. If they don't, then I'll sign on for a chartered company somewhere that values friendship, fun, and family.

Myself and some associates will be founding...
Seems Legit Inc.
Your all in one resource for cheap goods, quality subject to change (still worth your time), no questions asked. Need a quick weapon? Ours our cheap. Know someone who has an amulet you want? We'll get you one just like it... just wanting to sell us some of the stuff that YOU don't want any longer? Buy, sell, trade, etc! But only if it, you know...seems legit.

Investors, associates and new recruits welcome. Just be polite, willing to adventure, sell snakeoil, and don't compromise our position.
Our main rule is that if you don't enjoy what you're doing with the company, why are you here in the first place? Be family friendly on chat. Help out other Seems Legit employees. We never betray our own.
If we get enough recruits, I might start a new thread for this. Again, we are open to recruits, but you have to seem legit.

In addition, I will probably be looking to join a bounty hunter/assassination type group, depending on the amount of time I have to invest, and the opportunities that present themselves. I might found my own if there is none, but I don't see that happening. Really, I'm looking for a group that is into the game for fun, rather than 24/7 swearing on chat...
