Potion DC

Rules Questions

Hey all

So I'm sure I am just failing at my "Knowledge [Reading the damn book]" check.

But what is the save DC of a potion?

Say an Inflict light wounds?

Thanks for the help.

Generally you don't see many harmful potions, because they're usually difficult to use offensively. But I see no reason why the save wouldn't be calculated the same way as with a scroll - that is, [10+spell level+ minimum ability modifier to use the spell]. So Inflict Light Wounds would be 10+1+0 = 11, just like a scroll of Inflict Light Wounds.

or simpler: 10 + (spell level * 1.5)

I would imagine it falls under "Magic Item" rules, found here under "Saving Throws Against Magic Item Powers".

Quote:
Magic items produce spells or spell-like effects. For a saving throw against a spell or spell-like effect from a magic item, the DC is 10 + the level of the spell or effect + the ability modifier of the minimum ability score needed to cast that level of spell.

Thnk you for the quote.

So we are looking at...

Level 1 Potion
10 + 1 (spell level) + 0 (Ability 11) = DC 11

Level 2 Potion
10 + 2 (spell level) + 1 (Ability 12) = DC 13

Level 3 Potion
10 + 3 (spell level) + 1 (Ability 13) = DC 14

Thank you to all.
