Can a monk of the four winds take stunning fist as a bonus feat

Rules Questions

I initially assumed that a monk of the four winds would need to wait until he meets all the regular requirements to take stunning fist as a feat, but I was looking through the core rule book and there is a special clause in stunning fist:

"Special: A monk may select Stunning Fist as a bonus feat at 1st level, even if he does not meet the prerequisites. A monk who selects this feat..."

Actually, on checking the SRD, I see that this section of the clause has been removed, which I'm thinking supersedes the core book.

I guess my question is: Can a monk of the four winds only get stunning fist once they've met all the normal prerequisites (Dex 13, Wis 13, Improved Unarmed Strike, base attack bonus +8)?

Elemental Fist (Su): At 1st level, a monk of the four winds gains Elemental Fist as a bonus feat, even if he does not meet the prerequisites. At 5th level, and every five levels thereafter, the monk increases the damage of his Elemental Fist by 1d6 (2d6 at 5th level, 3d6 at 10th level, and so on). This ability replaces Stunning Fist.

(Emphasis is mine.) If that's correct, then Elemental Fist takes the place of Stunning Fist as the bonus feat you get at level 1, and you'd have to take Stunning Fist as a regular feat with the regular prerequisites, unless there's some other way you can get it as a Bonus feat.

Yes. You have to meet the prerequisites.

The Archetype ability: Elemental Fist states that it replaces Stunning Fist. That means the entire text entry.

Ah, I missed that, though the end result is what I was leaning towards anyway. I was just holding on to hope.

Thanks guys!

Going to throw a necro in this.

Here's what I get:
-The Monk of Four Winds Elemental Fist feature text block completely replaces the Basic Monk's Stunning Fist text block.

-A Monk may take the Stunning Fist feat at later levels, providing they meet the listed requirements.

My question is such:
If a Monk of Four Winds takes Stunning Feat at Character Level 11, would they gain the "Special" text block of the feat, allowing them to use Stunning Fist a number of times per day equal to their Monk level or would it be the standard "Once per 4 levels" that other classes get?

They clearly would not gain the additional status effects from a Stun, but there's no mention of the adjusted times per day.

Yep, they gain the "special" entry. Same way other monks get the special from Punishing kick, for example.

Shadow Lodge

Yeah, because they have that many monk levels. They just don't get all the cool abilities.

Good to know. The first couple times I read the entry, I got the idea that you only had the extra uses of Stunning Fist with the special status effects if you took it as a level 1 bonus feat.
