Hello! Are you currently organizing PFS locally in Indiana? I am trying to figure out who is playing what and where in Indiana. In an effort to organize PFS into a statewide network, let me know how it's going in your city!

He's still around, and is a manager at the one gaming store in town that has PFS. Not discounting Cactus (I GM PFS for him at the store regularly and am in a home game with him), I just hadn't gotten the impression he was in much contact with Indy/Tracy.

I'm not sure there is much going on in South Bend. When I was still up north, we tried to get some games going out there, but could not field a consistent table and the venture was abandoned. Perhaps that situation has changed.
Tom Baumbach was the GM trying to organize over there, but I think he is busy with freelance projects these days. As a matter of fact, he has launched a line of pretty cool game tokens.

In the Evansville area there is a store called "Comic Quest" that has a gaming room. I have put a call for gamers on their bulletin board, but I believe the folks there are in other milieus. The place sells a few Pathfinder books and such, but I do not believe they have any special arrangement. I have tried to locate a venture captain in the area and cannot. I communicated with other VCs around Indiana and in Illinois on how to get the ball rolling. Good luck to you, at this point I don't care who the VC is just so long as we deploy a lodge here and can organize serious play.

I'm still here, or maybe I'm back. I had let life's challenges keep me off the boards for a while. PFS at our store in Lafayette is booming. We have been regularly hosting 3 tables per slot with 3 slots per month minimum for the better part of the last year. This Sunday I am expecting 6-12 new players based on the store traffic this week. This could push us to 5 tables for our 1 Slot on Sunday. WHOOOT!!!

Fantasy Games was quite accommodating, but (and I could be wrong) the perception is that this store is for TCGs and Wargames, not RPGs. Despite the fact they have a respectable RPG selection and were able to provide me with good accommodations, there was hard resistance (from the store) to posting anything announcing or explaining PFS at the store (other than on their website, which only store regulars visited).
Griffon Books was more than willing to give us some table time if we had a group demanding it, but it was my perception (and again, I could be wrong) that ANY table time there would require "competing" against established groups and/or open play tables.
That's all I know of for gaming venues in the South Bend area.
As for me organizing: yeah probably not. I tried my best in '10 and '11, and I'm not sure I have it in me to go again. I would definitely come play (schedule permitting) if something starts up.

Tom, my wargaming group is one of the "established groups" you're referencing, and we'd be happy to move to a different room in the store if the space is an issue. There are three "large" areas for gaming and one small center room that can be used, so if there is demand there will be room. On Saturdays, there are usually only two groups using the gaming spaces. Space used to be at more of a premium a few months ago, but I think one of the groups dissolved. I'll talk to the guys at the store this weekend to see what is going on.

Yes, I got a very helpful vibe from everyone at Griffon Books, but always with the caveat that I'd need a group before it would be worth anyone's bother (and for the record, I find that to be a perfectly acceptable expectation, just one I couldn't meet).

Tom, if you've got a group of friends or a home PFS game, you might try playing PFS at a public table in the store once every couple of weeks or so.
Most often, I suspect, the barrier to PFS starting up is a lack of knowledge about what it is. This is due to a lack of public presence. But you can't get public presence without players, and you can't get players without public presence.
If you can make play visible, you get people who might be hanging around and think, "Hey, I'll try this thing out," and suddenly you've got a new player.
Just some thoughts; take them for what they're worth. :)

So, I am going to get some fliers together, draw up a few things and then get my little add on for the Beginner's Box and trot down there to set up shop. I am hoping that others might wish to join in and go to a full fledged run of the Ssssserpent'ssss Sssskull Sssseries. Looks good, just have a bit of work and some negotiating to do and BAM - we may have the beginnings of a lodge right here in E-ville.

I dropped by and talked to the proprietor of the Comic Quest and we agreed upon having Thursday be the best day to meet for Pathfinder Gaming. I am putting together some Beginners Box stuff and then hope to start doing PFS scenarios in preparation for running some things at Gencon this fall. I also hope to attract the attention of other folks interested in PF RPG or PFS and those which already have a game going in their homes. Monty suggested that there were folks in that had a "basement game" going already. I think they met on the weekend. My wife and I are committing to gaming there in public on Thursday nights in hopes of better establishing a solid presence for a Pathfinder Lodge.

Well Well! Week three of gaming at the Comic Quest in Pathfinder. It has been kinda different - My wife, Tammy and I were the only ones there for the first two weeks, but we didn't let that stop us. We each ran character that we shamelessly overpowered and then took on various foes within the Beginner's Box. Taking turns attacking monsters and one another, whenever the initiative went to the monsters, we had some good fun despite being low in numbers. This past week we hooked up with another couple that gamed with us before they went off to IU to school. We started the Smuggler's Shiv, part one of the 6 part "Serpent's Skull" series. Everyone had fun and I had a couple more people ask me about the game and about Pathfinder. It seems like there are a number of people looking to get into Pathfinder gaming and there are a number of "home games" out there. I want to play at my place on the weekends, primarily because I have so many options in my gaming center that I have built, but also because Saturdays are locked up by other games that got there first. I still want to have out Thursday Comic Quest gaming so that we can - at some point - switch that totally to Pathfinder Society play. It would be nice to have 5 or 6 tables going there and the ability to see everyone in the surrounding area that games.
The folks at the Comic Quest mentioned a "Game Day" that some Paizo folks called them on. I hope to assist that in whatever way I can. So I plan on getting back in touch with Tracy. More later as it all develops!
I have a friend who lives in, I think, the Ft. Wayne area who has done a little PFS. I dont know if he would want to help run a group, but I'll direct him to this thread, just in case he is interested in getting into PFS more heavily.
Not sure if your friend is looking for someone to join a group, or help get a group going, but I'm just north of the Fort Wayne and am looking for a group.

Putting this out there for Indiana PFS folks. A group in the South Bend area is looking to put on a game day later this fall. More details will come as we get a date and location nailed down. If anyone wants to run a PFS game, I'm sure we could draw players.

I am seriously considering starting PFS at Anderson, Reader Copies. Still working out the details, and we may be a month before we get anything going. Likely timing will be a Monday or Wednesday evening. Might be every other week to start, but could be more often depending on how rl continues to treat me.
I would be glad to organize if other groups or individuals are interested.
How much player interest is there?
Any GM interest?

If someone is looking for a place to run PFS in Fort Wayne I'm fairly certain Gamequest would be willing to work with them to arrange a day and time.
I run a homebrew game there and the owners are very friendly. I have toyed with starting a PFS game at the store, but have held back due to schedule issues at work.

I know of at least one store in the area that is open to us playing there. I'd be more than happy to come run a few intros.
For Ft. Wayne, I've been in touch with Gamequest. They said that they do not have anyone playing PFS in their store, but I believe they would be open to us gaming there. I just need a group of people who want to game. I was scheduled to GM two games at 3con earlier this year and ended up canceling after I did not get a single RSVP for either game (and heard from other attendees that the prior year was a bust). If the demand is there, I am not finding it. Any assistance would be appreciated. We will be at PentaCon in about 3 months, so if we don't get something started before then, perhaps we can network with some locals in November to try to generate more interest.

Working on Anderson, I am going to speak to the owner of the danger room tomorrow after work.(Unless he sees this post first :) I can also run anything in Muncie, I've only been to the Wizards Keep a couple of times and would need to speak to them first if you wanted to do it at a game store. I work in Muncie, so it would be easy for me to set up a session depending on how much interest there is. Actually Now that I think about it, I may steal away from lunch tomorrow to drop into the Wizards Keep as well.
