Barbarian / Ninja for PFS

Advice

So, I'm considering starting out as a Drunken Brute/Wild Rager, going Ninja for 1-3 levels, back to Barbarian for one more final hurrah, and finishing the rest of my levels with Ninja. I'm planning on playing a half orc statted thusly:

Str 18
Dex 15
Con 12
Int 7
Wis 10
Cha 14

Traits are undecided, as are feats. However, if it's PFS legal, I'd love to go toothy.

I getting the feeling that my wild rages may be more of a hindrance than a help, but I do like the flavor. And I really like the 2nd level wild rager ability to get an additional attack.

I'm thinking that once he gets into Ninja, going TWF (Katana/Wakizashi) is a strong option.

I'd love some feedback. Thanks

The tusked trait will give you a primary bite attack. Armor expert will reduce armor check penalties by 1.

Something you may not have been aware of is the Wild Rager archetype isn't allowed in PFS.

of course multiclassing ninja will diminish your combat ability somewhat, it shouldn't be by much and in PFS it's good to have alot of skills. You should have some good fun!

Yeah, knowing what all is legal for PFS is kind of rough. Good toknow about the wild rager. It seemed too good to be true!

Is the toothy alternate racial trait legit?

As far as skills go, yeah it'll be rough with that 7 int. I'm hoping that 8 skill ranks for ninja will help mitigate that some.

Sovereign Court

You'll want to check this list. It's all of what's allowed into PFS.

Right on. The reason that I say it's rough to know for sure is just that there's a lot of "everything except..." and "these 2 things are ok..." Not to mention, I'm not always 100% on where the material comes from. I know, I know, the website has all of the info, it's just easy to overlook things.

So, any suggestions on feats/traits, etc. I like the look of Armor Expert.

Obviously, at some point I'll take TWF, but I was also thinking Quick Draw to give me a ranged option. Also, the Hurler archetype is pretty decent. Now I'm thinking 1 Hurler, the rest Ninja. Start with TWF? Additional feats after lv.3? Stats look ok?

You will find you have less trouble remembering what is PFS legal if you also remember you can be asked to provide a legitimate copy of the source of the feat/archtype/item. This in general wont happen all the time, but if a GM is unfamiliar with the features you are using he will ask usually. Which means if you dont have the source material for the stuff you want to use in general dont use it for PFS.

Mostly the stuff from the books is easy to use, but the other materials will generally require sourcing so the GMs can check what it does as they will rarely have all the additional materials with them as thats your job as a player

Also your dropping to just hurler now? (As druken brute cant be taken with hurler they both drop fast movement)

Taking a three level dip into Ninja will actually enhance your combat abilities. If you like ninja too feel free to take a 4 lvl dip cause you'll only suffer -1 BAB. Get the feat extra ki for extra attacks. Your ninja trick should be a combat feat or ability that doesn't draw upon ki.

I had similar ideas for a multi ninja and eventually settled for a ninja/samurai 2 Ronin. I looked at Barbarian too and suggest you may want to try Armored Hulk. It allows great speed for Flanking and the abilikty to equip O-Yoroi you can lower your Dex and focus on hitting the crap out of things. Here would be a suggested stat build:

STR: 18 (16 +2 Race)
DEX: 14
CON: 13
INT: 8
WIS: 12
CHA: 12

If you're worried about the CON then drop INT 7 but this way your 3 ability points for levels will be spread evenly.

Traits: Blackbloodtroll suggestions of tusk and armor expert are great. Tusk is a must but also consider reactionary (+2 Initiative).

Feats: Probably want to go Barbarian first so you can pick up Power Attack. You'll have to bite not using a katana for your first adventures but will be dealing great damage from the start.

So, does that mean that the alternate racial ability, toothy, isn't legal? Cause I'd rather have an extra trait, and I didn't see anything about it not being allowed on the additional resources page. But, of course, that doesn't mean that it's not there.

Yeah, I just recently noticed that pretty much NONE of the Ninja abilities require light armor, so yeah the heavier, the better.

Thanks for all the help!

Toothy seems to be legal.

Cool. I thought that it was, but with PFS it's probably best to double check.

Yeah forgot about the APG ability that would be a good one. Only thing you lose with heavy armor is the ability to use acrobatics to dodge AoO. Never tried it but would be interested in seeing a dwarven ninja/martial build that uses heavy armor and can use acrobatics lol. Paired with Armored Hulk that might be a fun combination.
