Gunslinger with SA

We have a PC that want's to play a gunslinger with sneak attack. As a group we can't find a way to make sneak attack work with the class. We can't agree what is a fair trade off for sneak attack. Right now the general ideal is to have him make a combat rogue and take amateur gunslinger at first level, but the player seems dead set against this. We don't want to force him to play something he doesn't want to play. The only other concept I can see is trade his bonus feats for his sneak attack bonuses.

Sneak Attack is a class feature that 'levels' up every 2 levels. There is no gunslinger ability that can be effectively swapped out for sneak attack, without gutting the gunslinger class of most of it's abilities. Simple answer, no it cannot be done. Multiclass as a rogue/gunslinger, or just forget about Sneak Attack, as an option.

I recently used an npc in a plot that multiclassed ninja and gunslinger (mysterious stranger archtype). His charisma determined his ki pool (which he used for vanishing trick to become invisible as a swift action) and his grit points which worked beautifully. Since he could become invisible as a swift action he could get a full round of sneak attacks off fairly easily.

I'd recommend something like this personally. Otherwise it is really hard to get sneak attacks off at range.

You can always pester the Paizo staff to introduce a Sniper archetype for the gunslinger. Or something like that could work as a prestige class that requires levels in rogue and gunslinger to qualify. And for all I know, one of the 3rd party companies may already have something like this published.

Two-weapon fighting, improved twf, and improved two-weapon feint. Yes, you lose an attack, but it's worth it.

Its not really a gunslinger at all and more of a Rogue with Guns....so yeah, just offering an option.

If I was a gunslinger that had full sneak attack...I'd be in melee with a greatsword all the time.

And maybe use a gun now and then.

Drop Gun Training. Give staggered sneak attack progression. 1d6 at 1st, 2d6 at 5th, 3d6 at ninth. Drop Startling Shot.

more importantly, ask him what his build would be.
